Vietnam Students General Association in New South Wales inaugurated

Vietnam Students General Association in New South Wales, Australia, made its debut on Saturday in Sydney.

The General Association, the first Vietnamese student organization licensed by the Australian government, is established to connect its members and create a healthy environment for them. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Trinh Duc Hai said he hopes Vietnamese students in New South Wales will stay united and promote solidarity of the Vietnamese community there.

Cuba warns use of force in Latin America

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has warned that there exists the danger of a return to the use of force in Latin America because of the US intervention policy and the rise of righ-wing camp in the region.

Addressing the plenary session of the 8th Summit of the Americas in Peru on Saturday, Mr. Rodriguez cautioned over a tendency of imposing coercive unilateral measures, including coup d’etat.

He urged not to underestimate the US’s declaration that Venezuela is an unusual and extraordinary threat to the US’s national security. The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed solidarity with Caracas and hope that the upcoming presidential election in Venezuela will be a success.

Seminar in Nghe An highlights young people’s readiness for Industry 4.0

Experts and 700 students in Nghe An province have discussed opportunities and challenges facing young people amid Vietnam’s extensive international integration.

A seminar in Vinh City on Sunday provided students with knowledge and skills to adapt to the global rapid changes during the 4th Industrial Revolution. Speakers were Foreign Ministry’s senior advisor Nguyen Nguyet Nga, former Secretary General and Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Pham Chi Lan, and founder of a health consultancy portal Pham Anh Duc.

Khmer people in Soc Trang celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay festival

Soc Trang province is in festive atmosphere as local Khmer people are celebrating their traditional New Year Chol Chnam Thmay.

On Saturday, at Bung Tol Sa pagoda, there was a festival which featured Sadam dances, a recreation of Tevada Chnam Thmay ritual, and singing performances in Vietnamese and Khmer language. Local authorities briefed participants about the policies of the Party and State. They presented gifts to monks and policy beneficiaries, and handed 10 symbolic charity houses to local disadvantaged families.

US President holds phone calls with UK, French leaders on Syria attack

US President Donald Trump on Saturday spoke by phone to the leaders of the UK and France about the joint air strikes the three nations launched on Syria a day before.

The White House said Mr. Trump spoke with Prime Minister Theresa May and President Emmanuel Macron in separate phone calls, where he thanked the UK and France for the joint air strikes. The three leaders each said that the air strikes were “successful and necessary” to deter Syria from further use of chemical weapons.
