Russia-Iran-Turkey summit scheduled for September

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that President Putin may attend the Russia-Iran-Turkey summit scheduled for early September in Iran to discuss Syria’s future.

Mr. Peskov told reporters that preparations are underway and the meeting’s agenda will be announced once it is finalized. The three countries’ leaders have met twice, in Sochi and Istanbul, in the framework of the Astana Syria Talks.

Vietnamese tourism shines in Australia, New Zealand

Australian people are being introduced to Vietnam’s land, people and culture as a tourism promotion program arrived in Sydney on Wednesday.

The event, hosted by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), tours 5 destinations in the Pacific region this year, including Australia and New Zealand. The program featured networking events, a roadshow, and musical performances.

VNAT General Director Nguyen Van Tuan said Australia and New Zealand have always been among Vietnam’s top ten tourism markets. Vietnam’s strong economic growth in recent years offers many great opportunities for Australian enterprises, and individuals looking for business and pleasure in the country, he said.

First puppetry festival gets underway in HCM City

The first Vietnam Puppetry Festival opened at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday evening, treating locals and visitors to the special puppetry art.

Several forms of puppetry will take the stage during the three nights of the festival, which will also see a parade of puppets and circus characters, drumming, and music for children. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said: Vietnamese puppetry has both traditional and modern features. We hope this festival will return annually to enrich the cultural and entertainment activities of Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street.

21,000 USD donated to disadvantaged children in Hanoi

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and Minister of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung visited and delivered gifts to poor children in Phung Chau commune, Chuong My district, Hanoi, on Friday, ahead of the new academic year.

The gifts included 30 scholarships, 30 bicycles, and more than 27,000 milk boxes. The Hanoi Fund for Protection of Children delivered 50 scholarships to children affected by recent floods. Labor Heroes Le Van Kiem and Tran Cam Nhung also donated more than 5,000 USD to build charity houses in Phung Chau. The total donations were worth more than 21,000 USD.

Book guiding Vietnam’s nature heritages, culture to debut in August

A book on geographical indication for Vietnam’s nature heritages and culture will be published this month by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam.

The book will supply information on products’ geographical indications – quality, reputation, traditional values, and origins – to promote Vietnam’s image to domestic and foreign consumers.

The book introduces 60 protected geographical indications in 39 cities and provinces, for example, Phu Quoc fish sauce, Moc Chau Shan Tuyet tea, Buon Ma Thuot coffee, Binh Thuan dragon fruit, Thanh Ha litchi, and Vinh oranges.
