UN applauds Vietnam’s active role in multilateral forums

The UN Secretary General has praised Vietnam’s active role in multilateral forums. Antonio Guterres made the statement at a reception on Tuesday for Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, who came to bid farewell at the end of her tenure.

He said the UN values Vietnam’s strong commitment to realizing sustainable development goals (SDGs), adapting to climate change, protecting the environment and engaging more strongly in UN’s peacekeeping activities. The UN chief showed his pleasure at the good cooperation between Vietnam and the UN, saying that the Green One UN House model in Hanoi is a symbol of success, and a good experience for reforming the UN’s activities. Nga reiterated Vietnam’s strong commitment to implementing the UN agenda, SDGs and coping with climate change, as well as to participating in peacekeeping operations and supporting efforts of the Secretary General to improve the efficiency and transparency of the UN.
