Vietnam-Italy legislative ties strengthened

A Vietnamese delegation led by Phan Thanh Binh, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children, is now on a visit to Italy from November 29 to December 3rd.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegates had working sessions with Marina Sereni, Vice President of Italy’s Lower House of Parliament, Pier Ferdinando Casini, Chairman of the Italian Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, and Flavia Piccoli Nardelli, Lower House Culture Committee Deputy Chair.

Mr. Phan Thanh Binh noted that the visit aims to strengthen friendship, external relations and legislative ties between the two countries, and to learn from Italy’s policies and laws in legislation and supervision.

The Italian side hailed its bilateral cooperation with Vietnam, especially after the two countries signed the strategic partnership agreement in 2013, calling for enhanced bilateral cooperation and more exchanges of working visits between the two countries’ leaders.

NA Chairwoman completes official visits to Singapore, Australia

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan returned to Hanoi on Sunday, completing her official visits to Singapore and Australia.

Head of the National Assembly External Relations Committee, Nguyen Van Giau, noted that the visits brought about practical impact in boosting bilateral ties in all fields.

Singaporean leaders congratulated Vietnam on its successful hosting to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the event shapes up the grouping’s future, especially in trade liberalization and regional prosperity., added Giau.

35 Vietnamese businesses and more than 100 Singaporean partners joined a business forum when Chairwoman Ngan called for Singaporean investment in areas of Vietnamese needs and local potential. In Australia, Chairwoman Ngan met a dozen of Australian federal and state leaders. Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Huong Nam underscored that the visit left impressive experience in bilateral ties.

It’s interesting that the Speaker of Australian Upper House of the Parliament asked Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to co-chair a 30-minute hearing. This symbolized Australian Parliament’s unprecedented respect to a foreign legislative leader., noted Nam.

The official visits have strengthened Vietnamese legislative cooperation with countries in the world.

Famous German pianists perform in Hanoi

World famous pianists Andreas Kern and Paul Cibis had a performance in the Piano Battle concert in Hanoi’s Youth Theatre on Saturday.

They put on an exciting performance of classical piano works for the stage together. The concert saw the attendance of Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and German Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger.

Piano Battle was created by Kern and Cibis and has been enthusiastically welcomed all over the world over the past years.

HCMC, RoK work to enhance educational quality

Ho Chi Minh City’s permanent deputy secretary of the municipal Party organization, Tat Thanh Cang, received Chairman of South Korea � Asia Friendship Foundation, Choi Jae-sung on Saturday.

They discussed a plan to build an institute to train Vietnamese trainers with funding sponsored by the foundation. Deputy Secretary Cang called for close cooperation between the foundation and local agencies in mapping out the most efficient project on the institute to foster bilateral friendship cooperation. Chairman Choi Jae-sung pledged his willingness to share with Vietnam educational and training experience in all levels of schools.

Vietnam-Romania’s friendship consolidated

The Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association held a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) on Saturday to mark Romania’s 99th Great Union Day (December 1, 1918-2017).

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Si Thang, President of HCMC’s branch of the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association, thanked the Romanian people’s support for Vietnam during its struggle for independence and national construction. More than 4000 Vietnamese engineers and experts trained in Romania have contributed their knowledge and experience to Vietnam’s national construction and development, as well as to consolidating the two countries’ friendship.

Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Valeriu Arteni hailed the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association’s important role in strengthening bilateral ties between Vietnam and Romania over the past 26 years.

Cau Treo International Border Gate Complex makes it debut

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue attended the inauguration ceremony of Cau Treo International Border Gate Complex in Ha Tinh province on Sunday.

The complex house and a national gate construction began in July 2011 and provided diplomatic, inspection and examination services of enforcement agencies to ensure safe transport for vehicles and people as well as national defense and security. The construction site reflects national sovereignty and friendship solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Signing of Vietnam-EU FTA expected in 2018

Negotiations on a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the EU Chief can be signed and adopted by late next year, said chief negotiator of the European Union (EU) Raffaele Mauro Petriccione.

He made the remarks at a workshop on the Vietnam-EU FTA hosted by Movement of French Enterprises (Medef) and Asia Center in Paris on Saturday.

Speaking at the workshop, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh noted that both sides are completing the agreement in terms of languages and legal regulations to submit to higher levels in early next year for official signing and ratification.
