Fashion Retailer SportSpar.de Dramatically Increases Order Fulfillment Productivity with Descartes Ecommerce Warehouse Management System

MUNICH, Germany, Oct. 13, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq: DSGX) (TSX: DSG), the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announces that the German fashion retailer SportSpar.de has increased its ability to ship customer orders by 500% without increasing resources using Descartes’ cloud-based ecommerce warehouse management solution (WMS). The move from manual single-order-fulfillment to technology-based highly efficient and optimized multi-order-picking processes dramatically boosted the retailer’s number of shipments per day.

“We mainly sell remaining stock and previous year’s collections of well-known brands and have successfully placed ourselves in a niche with this business model,” says Aleksandr Borisenko, one of the two founders and Managing Directors of SportSpar.de. “Early on, we realized that our manual, inefficient order fulfillment processes were limiting growth. Descartes’ automated fulfillment processes work well, are simple, and can help us expand our product catalogue as much as we want. Since implementation, we’ve scaled our processes, purchased a higher number of products and shipped substantially more customer orders.”

Part of Descartes’ ecommerce shipping and fulfillment suite, the Descartes ecommerce WMS solution helps direct-to-consumer brands, ecommerce retailers, and traditional retailers rapidly scale while providing a remarkable end-customer experience. The solution helps ensure that clients can ship on time, ship the right items, do not oversell existing inventory, and have transparency into warehouse operations. The Descartes ecommerce WMS solution is pre-integrated to major ecommerce platforms to accelerate implementation and time-to-value. Order information is automatically available, and fulfillment is managed via mobile device-based workflows.

“We’re very pleased to have supported SportSpar.de in the successful expansion of their business,” said Dirk Haschke, VP & General Manager, Ecommerce at Descartes. “Our solution offers flexible and scalable processes that take retailers’ ecommerce warehouse performance to the next level. The deployment at SportSpar.de is an excellent example of how system-supported, automated order fulfillment enables ecommerce companies to gain control of their operations, improve productivity and grow successfully.”

Sportradar Integrity Services Highlight the Scale of Match Fixing in Sport Over the Last 18 Months

Sportradar underlines its commitment to protecting the integrity of sport with the official launch of Universal Fraud Detection System free of charge

NEW YORK and ST. GALLEN, Switzerland, Oct. 13, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Sportradar Integrity Services, a global supplier of sport integrity solutions and partner to over 100 sports federations and leagues, has detected more than 1,100 suspicious sports matches since the start of the global pandemic in April 2020, with 655 of those matches detected in the first nine months of 2021. Sportradar Integrity Services is a unit of Sportradar (NASDAQ: SRAD) (“Sportradar” or “the Company”), a leading global sports technology company.

In the last 18 months Sportradar has utilised its bet monitoring system, the Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS), to detect suspicious activity in 12 different sports across more than 70 countries worldwide. These insights are published as Sportradar officially begins delivering its UFDS bet monitoring service free of charge, effective today, to sports federations, sports leagues, and state authorities around the world, in its continued commitment to protecting the integrity of global sport and making the system accessible to all.

According to Sportradar’s UFDS figures, soccer is the sport at most risk of betting related corruption with more than 500 suspicious matches detected in 2021 to date. Approximately 40% of the suspicious activities reported within domestic soccer competitions comes from third tier leagues and below, including youth level, as fixers increase their attention on lower-level matches.

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director, Integrity Services at Sportradar said: “As our analysis shows, match-fixing is evolving, and those behind it are diversifying their approach, both in the sports and competitions they target, and the way they make approaches to athletes, such as the rise in digital approaches. To help address this, Sportradar has made a significant investment to make it possible to offer the UFDS for free to global sports organisations and leagues. The reason for this is that we are committed to supporting the sustainability of global sports and using data and technology for good.”

The rising popularity of esports has made it a target for fixers and has led to a rapid increase in the number of suspicious matches reported. Over 70 suspicious matches have been detected by the UFDS since April last year across five different game titles, with more than 40 of those suspicious matches identified since January this year.

In addition to the suspicious soccer and esports matches detected this year, Sportradar’s UFDS has detected suspicious activity in Tennis: 37 matches; Basketball: 19; Table Tennis: 11; Ice Hockey: 9; Cricket: 6, while suspicious activity has also been identified in Volleyball, Handball, and Beach Volleyball.

On a global level, the UFDS has detected 382 suspicious matches in Europe so far this year, with Latin America recording 115 suspicious matches in the same period. That’s followed by the Asia Pacific region with 74, Africa with 43, 10 in the Middle East and 9 in North America since the start of January 2021.

Notion Expands Its International Reach, Launching a Localized Japanese Product to Help More Businesses Grow

With a fresh round of funding, the company launches its all-Japanese version of its product

Notion logo

Notion logo

TOKYO, Oct. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Notion, the collaboration software company, today announced availability of its product in Japanese, enabling millions more users in Japan to use the product for notes, documents, wikis, and project management. This launch comes on the heels of a new fundraise of $275 million from Sequoia Capital and Coatue Management, a $10 billion valuation, and record global growth for the company.

As Notion continues its global expansion, the company has seen its daily active user base in Japan increase by 500% in the last year, and has brought on key customers including Sompo Light Vortex, RAKSUL, and SmartNews. The expansion in Japan, which includes the Japanese product in beta as well as dedicated customer support in Japanese, has been bolstered by a passionate and vibrant community. Users have held their own meetups, created popular online forums, and even written and independently published books about Notion, all while the product was still in English. In order to support a growing number of customers, Notion is also building out an office in Tokyo, led by Regional General Manager Katsukiyo Nishi.

Notion’s worldwide community is at the heart of its in-region adoption. Since launching a localized version of its product in Korea in 2020, Notion has seen key trends exemplifying its international reach:

  • 80% of Notion’s users are international, spread across 28 countries
  • 4x growth in daily active users worldwide
  • Over 1,000 startups in Japan use Notion

“Japan has always held a special place in Notion’s history,” says Katsukiyo Nishi, Notion’s Regional General Manager in Japan. “It is one of our most active audiences, and people have taken the tool into their teams and companies, fundamentally shifting how people work. In a world that’s constantly changing, it’s empowering to see Notion leveraged for new ways to work and collaborate. With this localized version of Notion, we’re excited to see more people embrace the power of our platform.”

Many of the features that Notion provides — helping teams customize their workflows to their specific needs — have allowed companies to create more collaborative, transparent organizations. In a landscape where hybrid work can be a challenge, Notion pulls all relevant information and knowledge into one place, allowing for more effective team alignment.

“Notion’s excellent performance and design, as well as the ability to flexibly customize to our needs, has lowered the hurdles to documentation and increased knowledge sharing,” says Kyohei Watanabe, Executive Officer and CIO at RAKSUL, Inc. “As a result, we’ve been able to share information within the company much faster, and I feel that it’s increased the speed of development.”

Digital transformation is a challenge not limited to Japan, however. Companies around the world are learning how to work in new ways. Built with the idea that software should adapt to the user, and not the other way around, Notion has reset expectations for what knowledge workers want from their tools.

“By consolidating our knowledge in Notion, it’s become much easier and smoother for us to find the information we need,” said Takashi Uehara, Executive VP at Sompo Light Vortex, Inc. “We’ve linked Notion to tools such as chat, which has cut down on the amount of time we spend providing updates and enables our team to asynchronously add updates at each person’s pace, resulting in better efficiency. I have peace of mind that our team members are always sharing and working off of the same information. Meetings can now be held in a shorter period of time and focus on discussions, since we no longer need to spend time sharing information.”

“With so many of our users outside of the U.S., we want to be present in more languages and markets,” said Ivan Zhao, CEO at Notion. “In this era of digital transformation and hybrid work, companies have turned to us to help them connect their teams and collaborate faster. Localizing Notion is our first step to help people and companies succeed with Notion.”

Notion also opened an EMEA headquarters in Dublin earlier this year that is serving rapid growth in France, Germany, and throughout the continent. The company will continue building on its enterprise adoption in Korea by adding more employees in-region over the next year.

Notion’s Japanese version can be accessed on the web here, and more information can be found on Notion’s blog. Localized mobile and desktop applications will become available in the coming weeks.

About Notion

Notion is the all-in-one workspace that combines notes, docs, project management, and wikis — and makes them all customizable. Tens of thousands of teams and companies around the world use it to collaborate, stay informed, and get more done together. If every person and business can tailor software to their problems, the world will be better at solving its problems. Our mission as a company is to make that a ubiquitous reality.

GA-ASI Completes European Maritime Demos

Five-Week Flight Series Featuring SeaGuardian® Includes Multiple Industry Firsts

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 12, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) completed a series of flight demonstrations that featured a company-owned MQ-9B SeaGuardian® Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) in partnership with the Royal Air Force (RAF). The demonstration series began Aug. 25 and ended with the completion of the UK’s Exercise Joint Warrior on Sept. 30.

“The support of the RAF was key to the success of our demonstrations,” said GA-ASI Vice President of International Strategic Development Robert Schoeffling. “Our partnership allowed us to achieve a number of industry firsts as we showcased our innovative RPA to senior military officials from 16 countries.”

The flights showcased the many operational capabilities of the MQ-9B, including the platform’s advanced maritime Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Detect and Avoid System (DAAS), industry-leading endurance and interoperability with NATO partners. During Joint Warrior, a demonstration of Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) took place using the SeaGuardian and an RAF P-8, showing SeaGuardian’s ability to compliment and support Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) tasking, which included tracking, monitoring and reporting of sonobuoys.

The demonstrations were initially based out of RAF Waddington before moving to RAF Lossiemouth to support Joint Warrior. While based at RAF Waddington, one flight saw SeaGuardian fly to Leeuwarden Air Base, taking the RPA into Netherlands airspace and proving a seamless transition between national air traffic regions, while testing airspace operational procedures. This multi-day demonstration, which took place Sept. 1-2, displayed SeaGuardian’s maritime surveillance capabilities in support of international allies. The Royal Netherlands Air Force has ordered four MQ-9A RPA and the first is expected to be delivered to Leeuwarden later this year. SeaGuardian returned to RAF Waddington at the conclusion of the event.

That important event was followed by the UK’s first Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)-approved point-to-point domestic flight of an unmanned aircraft using the UK’s airways structure, when SeaGuardian flew from Lincolnshire, England, to Moray, Scotland, on Sept. 12. The flight was controlled by NATS, the UK’s civilian Air Navigation Service Provider.

“The MQ-9B is the first RPA to be allowed to fly so extensively in UK-controlled airspace,” said Mark Watson, Head of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM) Service Integration for NATS. “This moves us a long way towards same-day notification for ‘file and fly’ privileges as an Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC)-capable platform.”

A large set of airworthiness artifacts have been reviewed by the UK Civil Airworthiness Authority, which has approved MQ-9B for operations in unsegregated, uncontrolled airspace for the first time based on the suite of airspace deconfliction technologies and extensive documentation provided in the Safety Case.

SeaGuardian is the maritime version of the MQ-9B SkyGuardian®. As the launch customer, RAF has ordered 16 aircraft in their configuration, which they have named the Protector RG Mk1 RPA systems. The Protector is a derivative of the SkyGuardian, featuring an array of customer modifications.

“The coordination between GA-ASI and our RAF team was exciting to see,” said RAF Group Captain Shaun Gee, Director Air ISTAR Programmes (RPAS and TacISR), and SRO Shadow Programme. “It was great to see first-hand the game-changing capabilities of the RPA we’ve ordered for Protector. The ability of the aircraft to integrate into European airspace is key for the RAF as well as our international allies.”

The flights culminated with the RPA’s participation in the UK-led Joint Warrior exercise, which showcased how the MQ-9B’s maritime capabilities can be integrated with other air, maritime and land assets. An international audience observed the RPA’s maritime capability which includes a multi-mode surface-search radar with Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imaging mode, an Automatic Identification System (AIS) receiver, Electronic Support Measures (ESM) along with the standard High-Definition, Full-Motion Video sensor equipped with optical and infrared cameras. As a result of a visit from leadership from the UK Border Force during which they observed the capabilities of the system, a Military Aid to Civil Authorities (MACA) demonstration flight was performed over the English Channel.

In support of the European Maritime Demonstrations, GA-ASI partnered with SES, the leading provider of global satellite communications (SATCOM) services operating the world’s only multi-orbit constellation of satellites in Geostationary Orbit (GEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and offering a unique combination of global coverage and high performance. For the demos, GA-ASI leveraged SES’s GEO connectivity in Ku-band as well as X-band reachback provided via the GovSat-1 satellite. GovSat-1, which is exclusively dedicated for government use and offers secure multi-mission capabilities, is operated as a public-private joint venture between the Government of Luxembourg and SES. The SATCOM service enabled the MQ-9 to operate securely with a high-capacity datalink, allowing real-time transmission of sensor data from the aircraft and operations center using a SATCOM link, including with data rates up to 70 Mbps in secure reachback.

“With our global satellite connectivity services, SES has been supporting the critical needs of GA-ASI and their government customers for almost two decades, and we’re delighted to take part in this demonstration effort as part of our long-standing relationship with General Atomics,” said Will Tong, Vice President of Strategic Government Initiatives and Head of the Aero ISR market at SES Networks. “As our customer needs evolve and require increasingly secure, flexible and high-performance services for real-time data exchange and reachback, we are happy to leverage our existing capabilities and to further innovate with the next-generation high-throughput systems like O3b mPOWER, enabling network sovereignty and cloud-scale applications that governments are looking for.”

Vietnam Airlines operates first commercial flight on HCM City-Da Nang route

The Da Nang International Airport welcomed the first commercial flight from HCM City operated by Vietnam Airlines on October 12 evening after the route was resumed, the carrier said on October 13.

Passengers on the flight satisfied pandemic prevention and control requirements including a negative testing COVID-19 certificate, full vaccination of two shots, or certificate of recovery from the disease.

The airline has restored 14 domestic routes since October 10. For the routes between Da Nang and Hanoi and HCM City, it is allowed to conduct five return flights on each route during the pilot period from October 10 to 20.

The number is expected to increase in the coming days after cities issue specific pandemic prevention and control regulations and facilitate the travelling of people. Vietnam Airlines operated nine commercial flights on October 12, comprising two between Hanoi and HCM City, two each on routes connecting HCM City and Hue, Dong Hoi and Phu Quoc, and one between HCM City and Da Nang.

The Hanoi-HCM City route is the most crowded with seat occupancy of up to 94 percent.

Hanoi allows reopening of in-person dining, public transport

Hanoi’s authorities have allowed dine-in services at restaurants from 6am on October 14.

However, wine bars, pubs, and beer restaurants are still only allowed to sell orders for delivery.

The move was made as the COVID-19 situation has been controlled in the capital city and to adopt the Government guidance on “safe adaptation, flexibility and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic”.

Capacity is capped at 50 percent and establishments are asked to set up barriers between tables and ensure a safe distance between customers. Owners and employees of all venues must be vaccinated with two full jabs. Customers will be required to submit electronic health declarations during their time on the premises.

Bus and taxi services will also be allowed to resume operations from October 14 following guidance from the municipal Department of Transport. They too must strictly follow pandemic prevention and control regulations of the Ministries of Transport and Health.

Agencies, units, organisations, and businesses will resume normal operation but must regularly assess risks relating to the pandemic and strictly implement COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.

The authorities also allow the reopening of museums and parks with no more than 10 people in each group of visitors. Visitors are required to ensure a safe distance and fully adopt pandemic prevention and control measures.

Hotels and accommodation services establishments are allowed to reopen with a cap of 50 percent of their capacity and required to strictly abide by COVID-19 prevention and control regulations and guidance from the tourism sector.

The municipal authorities asked the People’s Committees of districts and communes to maintain the operation of task forces in pandemic prevention and control and regularly review and monitor local residents’ travel history. Residents who return from other localities, particularly high-risk and very high-risk areas must have their health monitored and be tested for coronavirus in line with regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Oragnisations and individuals violating pandemic prevention and control measures will be strictly punished.

They were also required to coordinate with the municipal Department of Health to enhance pandemic prevention and control measures; regularly inspect local establishments to ensure the enforcement of the rules; and complete vaccination plans for local residents.

The authorities ordered the municipal Department of Health to coordinate with agencies and sectors to build and organise the implementation of the “safe adaptation, flexibility and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic” plan with a feasible roadmap.

The department was also asked to adopt the Ministry of Health’s guidelines of testing, isolating, and monitoring those returning from other localities and pandemic-hit areas; consult the municipal authorities on pandemic prevention and control measures in line with real situations; prepare to be willing to adapt when the pandemic situation change; and implement vaccination plans.

The Hanoi authorities asked the Department of Transport to guide transport activities in line with real situations and the direction from the Ministry of Transport.

The Department of Education and Training was required to coordinate with the Department of Health to review and guide COVID-19 prevention and control measures in education and training activities; take measures to ensure a safe and effective new academic year of 2021-2022 in line with the COVID-19 situations at each area; and prepare to vaccinate students when needed following the Ministry of Health’s guidance.
