Teledyne’s AxCIS Contact Image Sensor

The new AxCIS is a high-speed, high-resolution line scan solution for space limited systems

WATERLOO, Ontario, Sept. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Teledyne DALSA is pleased to introduce AxCIS, a new family of high-speed and high-resolution fully integrated line scan imaging modules. These easy-to-use Contact Image Sensors (CIS) combine sensors, lenses, and lights all-in-one, offering a lower cost inspection system for many demanding machine vision applications.

AxCIS is powered by Teledyne’s new quadlinear CMOS image sensors, which deliver up to 120 kHz line rates for mono, 60 kHz x 3 for colour, at 900 dpi resolution, so that defects can be detected with unprecedented precision. Its unique staggered sensor design covers the whole field of view without missing pixels, providing a 100% seamless image without any interpolation. HDR imaging can be achieved using a dual exposure mode, which enables better detectability for highly reflective materials with improved dynamic range.

Initially available in widths of 400mm, 800mm (plus other widths in increments of 100mm), AxCIS can fit anywhere in your system, even with limited vertical clearance. It’s Camera Link HS SFP+ fiberoptic interface delivers high resolution images over standard low-cost, long-length cables (up to 300m) with high reliability of data transmission.

CHICAGO, Sept. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Leading supply chain visibility company FourKites today announced a $10M investment from Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to expand FourKites’ offerings across the APAC region. This investment encompasses the first phase in an ongoing strategic relationship between FourKites and Mitsui, which the two companies intend to formalize by the end of the year.

Mitsui’s investment in FourKites is the culmination of a yearlong effort between the two companies, which included Mitsui’s extensive due diligence of the supply chain visibility landscape. Given FourKites’ market-leading offerings and proven track record in the region, Mitsui is planning to invest significant resources to expand FourKites’ coverage in APAC, including sales, customer service, operations and product localization, which will result in a hyper-localized solution for the APAC market. The strategic partnership will initially focus on Japan, with plans to jointly expand throughout APAC.

Mitsui is the latest industry giant to throw its weight behind FourKites, following strategic investments from FedEx, Zebra Technologies, Volvo Group Venture Capital AB and Qualcomm Ventures, LLC, over the past two years. EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Phoenix Software International, Inc., today announced its intention to make JES3^plus V1R2, a derivative work based on IBM’s z/OS^® JES3, generally available effective September 30, 2022. This release provides new functionality and integrates continuous delivery items made available over the past twelve months. Thanks to Phoenix’s JES3^plus Customer Advisory Council, organizations that migrate to JES3^plus can reap the benefits of new features that were ranked in terms of providing true business value to their fellow customers.

JES3^plus V1R2

Functional Highlights:

• Parallel SPOOL I/O – Takes full advantage of the Parallel Access Volumes technology supported by modern mainframe DASD through support for up to eight STARTIO channel programs running concurrently for a single SPOOL extent. This is a major improvement over the traditional JES3 approach of allowing only one STARTIO at a time per SPOOL extent.
• Reduced Local Lock Contention – Now intrinsic to the way JES3^plus operates, multiple I/O completion SRBs execute simultaneously by acquiring the local lock only if and when needed. In addition, if the completing I/O contains requests from only a single address space, the SRB is scheduled directly to that address space rather than to the JES3^plus address space.
• Improved WLM Batch Initiator Balancing – Enabling this facility results in JES3plus placing batch jobs into idle initiators across the JESplex using a target percentage derived from WLM’s initiator allocation counts. Until now this behavior occurred on JES2 systems only.
