According to the magazine, popular destinations in Vietnam include the capital Hanoi, the Ancient Town of Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Sa Pa – a northern mountainous resort in Lao Cai.

Vietnam urges support for Palestine refugees

8th November 2022 (VOV5) Securing financial resources for the Palestinian refugee relief agency in the Near East to operate stably is important in assisting refugees and contributing to stabilizing the region,  a Vietnamese diplomat said.

Counselor Do Ngoc Thuy, Representative of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the United Nations, addressed a meeting of the UN Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) in New York on Monday.

Thuy said supporting refugees cannot be considered a substitute for finding a long-term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He stressed the need to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of refugees by establishing a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace beside the State of Israel, with border lines recognized internationally on the basis of the pre-1967 borders and relevant UN resolutions.

Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said that increased violence on the West Bank has severely impacted the agency’s delivery of essential services to refugees.

World is close to ‘climate disaster’, UN warns

8th November 2022 (VOV5) Countries have to choose between reducing greenhouse gas emissions and letting future generations face climate disasters, said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday at the ongoing 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Climate Change Framework (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. Guterres called for a pact between developed and developing countries to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels and pay poor countries to cut emissions and compensate them for damage due to global warming.

He urged countries to agree on a coal phase-out on a global scale by 2040 (2030 for OECD members).

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that unless carbon averages at least 75 USD a ton globally by the end of the decade, businesses and consumers will not have the incentive to shift and global climate goals will not be met.

She warned that a breakthrough needs to be reached at COP27 or soon after, because the world does not have much time left to achieve its climate goals.
