Unicredit: Ft, resigns head of remuneration committee, move precedes decision on Orcel

Unicredit: Ft, resigns head of remuneration committee, move precedes decision on Orcel

The head of UniCredit’s remuneration committee, Jayne-Anne Gadhia, has resigned following unsubstantiated allegations of a leak from the board of directors, just weeks after a new remuneration package for CEO Andrea Orcel was proposed.

MILAN, Italy, Feb. 27, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The head of UniCredit’s remuneration committee, Jayne-Anne Gadhia, has resigned following unsubstantiated allegations of a leak from the board of directors, just weeks after a new remuneration package for CEO Andrea Orcel was proposed. The Financial Times reported this, pointing out that the move raises questions about the Italian bank’s corporate governance. Gadhia, who joined the board in 2021, chose to step down as a non-executive director following the investigation, sources told the Ft. Two people said the charges were eventually dropped. Although the bank eventually withdrew the allegations, Gadhia felt that his position had become untenable and decided to resign as a matter of principle, they added. He remains a senior advisor.

As chairman of the remuneration committee, Gadhia was tasked with overseeing executive pay and seeking investor support ahead of the group’s annual general meeting on 31 March. The bank will publish its policy on 1 March for shareholder scrutiny. A source familiar with the board’s intentions expects that it will propose a 20-30% increase in Orcel’s salary, in light of the bank’s performance in 2022.

It is likely that the ECB will decide to hold an exit interview with Gadhia following his resignation, a common practice after a member leaves the board, which allows the ECB to gather information for its general supervision of a bank. It is likely to happen mainly because Gadhia is leaving office suddenly before the end of his three-year term.

Luxury Fertility & Surrogacy Concierge, First-of-Its-Kind. IMA ART Fertility

A new paradigm in which luxury fertility is an experience. Because the world’s wealthy don’t have time to create their families, as they’re busy creating wealth.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Feb. 26, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — IMA ART, introduced a first-of-its-kind luxury fertility and surrogacy concierge, dedicated to helping high-net-worth & ultra high-net-worth individuals on their private journey to parenthood.

Speak to any parent and they will tell you that a child is the most precious thing on Earth. Perhaps that makes parenthood the ultimate luxury; but for the estimated 15% of couples who run into fertility problems, it’s a luxury that’s unobtainable without recourse to fertility or surrogacy solutions. In addition, in most international jurisdictions, building a family through assisted reproductive technology is not available to singles and LGBTQIA+.

The world’s wealthiest are not immune from these family creation challenges, but until recently they lacked a luxury fertility and surrogacy provider with the fine touches and exemplary service suited to such high-end discerning clientele.

This is exactly the space that Beverly Hills-based IMA ART Fertility has chosen to occupy. From its iconic California location, Asian infused hospitality, exclusive positioning and beautifully designed website, it’s clear this is a brand that exudes luxury.

“Our business originally started in Hong Kong, but it’s no accident that we’ve chosen to set up in Beverly Hills. In this area, we have an amazing choice of five-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, exclusive spas and all the trappings of pure luxury. Our clients may only spend around two weeks here with us, but we want to make that experience as easy and enjoyable as possible, so they are in the perfect frame of mind to undergo their fertility treatment,” shared Ron Sonnenberg, Co-Founder.

Since rebranding and relaunching in Beverly Hills, IMA ART has made significant strides in establishing a reputation in this more rarified marketplace.

“We’ve also connected with lawyers and insurance advisers who have been in this field for 20 years and they’ve all told us nobody is serving this high net worth and ultra-high net worth demographic in the way IMA ART is. We are an international business and operating in the luxury sphere is anything but a 9-to-5 job. We have to make ourselves available to our clients when they want us to be available – it’s another element that sets us apart from other agencies operating in this space,” Ron added.

“Our goal is to be recognized as the pre-eminent luxury fertility & surrogacy concierge. We want to be a brand that lasts and helps families create future generations,” said Michelle Tang, CEO and Co-Founder of IMA ART.

About the Company: IMA ART is a high-value bespoke professional fertility advisory service. Creating a whole new personality; introducing an exclusive suite of discreet luxury fertility and surrogacy solutions in Beverly Hills. Learn more about IMA ART Fertility, at www.imaartfertility.com.

Top legislator lauds health workers’ dedication

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended a gathering held at the 108 Military Central Hospital in Hanoi on February 27 in celebration of the 68th Vietnamese Doctors’ Day (February 27).

Addressing the event, Chairman Hue described the job of health workers as one of the few with high requirements for both morality and specialised capacity, adding it is a particularly noble job honoured by the Party, State, and people.

He highlighted Vietnam’s proud healthcare achievements, including the considerably improved stature of the Vietnamese people, the average life expectancy higher than the global average and that in many countries with the same income level, the medical service coverage larger than the Southeast Asian and global averages, the successful production of most vaccines used in the expanded vaccination programme, the successful application of many new techniques and high technologies, and especially the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic over the last three years.

He also highly valued the activeness, creativity, and dedication by the staff of the 108 Military Central Hospital to caring for not only senior officials of the Party, State, and army but also for the poor and residents in border and maritime areas.

The hospital is currently one of the biggest centres for tissue and organ transplantation in Vietnam.

Setting several tasks for the hospital, the top legislator affirmed that ministries, central agencies, Party committees, administrations, and the entire political system will continue standing side by side with the health sector by quickly overhauling policies and laws and tackling obstacles and difficulties, thus creating the best possible conditions for public health care and fundamental and breakthrough improvements to the sector to be made.

On this occasion, the NA Chairman visited and offered encouragement to health workers and patients at departments of the hospital.

Sixty-eight years ago, on February 27, 1955, then President Ho Chi Minh delivered a letter to a conference of medical workers, asking the sector to stay united, sincerely care for patients, and develop the country’s health sector. Since then, the date February 27 has become the sector’s traditional day./.

Vietnamese banking brands climb in value

Vietnamese banking brands are riding high with a growth of 31.3% in brand value in 2023, according to Brand Finance Banking 500 Report.

Almost all the 12 Vietnamese banks featured in the report have climbed in their global rankings. However, Agribank – the second most valuable brand in Vietnam – runs counter to the trend by dropping two positions. Its brand value grew by just 1.7% to hit 1.4 billion USD.

Meanwhile, VIB enters the top 500 most valuable banking brands for the first time, with a brand value increase of 14% year-on-year, reaching 181 million USD.

The report said Vietnamese banks showed great performance in 2022, consolidated by a credit growth rate of nearly 13% and an economic growth rate of 8%, the highest in the last 25 years.

It was this strong revenue rebound and economic recovery that has given a big push to Vietnamese banking brand value.

Alex Haigh, managing director of Brand Finance Asia Pacific, remarked that Vietnamese banks are making headway in digital banking by integrating the power of technology into their core business.

“Vietnamese banks were finding themselves among the best performers in 2022,” said Haigh.

The director was impressed by Techcombank, the second fastest-growing brand in Vietnam, which rose by 46.7% in brand value to reach 1.5 billion USD. In two years, the bank moved up by 107 positions to the 163rd among the top 200 valuable banking brands in 2023.

Thai Minh Diem Tu, Director of the Marketing Division at Techcombank, noted that the remarkable feat of reaching 1.5 billion USD in brand value represents an important milestone for the bank.

It is an indication that Techcombank has achieved success in improving customer experience, moving one step closer toward its ultimate objective of “Transforming the financial sector and improving the quality of life”.

It is worth noting that the bank made it to many global podiums in 2022 for its effort in digital transformation. Notably, it was recognised as ‘Best bank in Vietnam’ by Euro Money and its application Techcombank Mobile was awarded ‘Most innovative mobile banking app’ by Global Business Outlook.

The bank is currently the first bank in Vietnam to be assigned a Baseline Credit Assessment score of ba2 with a stable outlook by Moody’s. It also gets a rating of BB- from S&P with a similar outlook.

By late 20222, Techcombank made a pre-tax profit of around 25.6 trillion VND (1.1 billion USD) and secured a customer base of over 10.8 million./.

Special circus programme honours female artists

A special circus programme will take place next month to celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8), according to Vietnam Circus Federation (VCF).

Director of the VCF Tong Toan Thang said the programme – Nhung Canh Hong Bay 2 (Flying Roses 2) will offer performances by artists who have won national and international awards.

With the theme Cong Chua Xiec (Circus Princess), the event aims to honour outstanding achievements and contributions of female artists to the development of Vietnamese circus art, the VCF director said at an annual conference held in Hanoi recently.

At the conference, the VCF announced a one-year plan with high-quality professional art products including nearly 20 performance programmes scheduled to take place in 2023.

The plan promises to offer a series of shows with diverse topics to serve many different audiences such as the above-mentioned Nhung Canh Hong Bay 2 – Cong Chua Xiec from March 4 to March 8; a programme to mark the founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on March 25-March 26; the 5th Gala Xiec ba mien (Three-regional Circus Gala) between April 29 and May 2; and a special programme for children between May 26 and June 4.

Speaking at the conference, Thang said all activities of the VCF in the past two years had been seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The VCF’s annual conference in 2022 was cancelled so this year it planned to organise many shows earlier than usual, according to the official.

After the success of the first Nhung Canh Hong Bay 1 in 2019, the VCF wishes to continue the programme every year because it said “this is a very meaningful playground for female circus artists to meet, exchange and shine on the stage,” proving to the audience their talents and beauty through performances.

Nhung Canh Hong Bay 2 is a general entertainment art event consisting of singers, dance troupes, and circus actresses who have been very successful on the circus stage in all genres, according to the VCF./.
