35th founding anniversary of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha marked in HCM City

A meeting to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha was held in HCM City on Saturday.

Most Vulnerable Thich Tri Quang, President of the Executive Committee of the HCM City Buddhist Sangha delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the establishment of the Buddhist Sangha. In his address, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, President of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha praised the development of the organization over the past 35 years saying it illustrated that Buddhism has always accompanied the national development. Nguyen Hoang Nang, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in HCM City said the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the HCM City Buddist Sangha have upheld the patriotic tradition and national unity. To mark the occasion, the HCM City Buddhist Sangha presented 1 billion VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support flood victims in central Vietnam.
