Enterprises assert the role in city’s development

The ceremony was organized by Municipal People’s Committee and Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Noi, and attracted leaders of the State and capital city.

According to Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, Ha Noi has 202,255 enterprises, accounting for 30.8% of total businesses nationwide. Their contribution to state budget accounts for over 60%, of which private enterprises over 40%. The enterprises create jobs for over 147,000 employees annually, and step by step confirm their role in the city’s development.

Ha Noi enterprises witness continuous development in both quality and quantity in various fields, such as finance, credit, tourism, science and technology. The businesspeople express their abilities to integrate into international economy and overcome difficulties, while making contribution to city’s activities for poverty reduction, natural disaster handling, environment protection and food safety assurance.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung asked enterprises to create favorable conditions for startup businesses, enhance their competitiveness to gradually dominate domestic market and increase business in international markets, and raise the country’s competitiveness index. For its part, the city would continue support for enterprises in accordance with instruction of the Prime Minister, focusing on helping them solve problems, implementing the Government’s policies to create favorable conditions for enterprises, and increasing assistance for startup businesses.

In terms of support for the poor from 2011 to 2015, Ha Noi built around 2,500 houses for poor households, helped over 15,800 disadvantaged households with plant and animal varieties, capitals and materials for production, offered medical checkup for around 14,000 poor people and helped over 36,000 kids go to school. Furthermore, the city mobilized VND 183 billion to support the people having excellent contribution to the Revolution.

In 2017, Viet Nam will celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day. In response to the celebration, Ha Noi aims to build and renovate houses for contributors of the Revolution; total capital is estimated at VND 379 billion, of which VND 216 billion mobilized from state and city budget, and the rest from sponsors and enterprises.

Speaking at the conference, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh highly appreciated achievements of Ha Noi enterprises. She asked the city to continue implementation of policies on business, create breakthrough in investment and business environment, take measures for investment and consumption promotion, support enterprises, enhance administration reform, and help enterprises access opportunities and integrate into international economy.

The Vice State President also expected that enterprises will increase effort for better performance and contribute more to social protection programs of the country and Ha Noi.

On this occasion, excellent enterprises and entrepreneurs were praised by the State President, Prime Minister and Municipal People’s Committee.

Ha Noi enterprises made financial contribution of VND 120 billion to city’s Fund for the Poor and Fund for building, renovating houses of contributors of the Revolution.
