Iran says it has options if nuclear deal fails after US election

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif declared Thursday that Iran wants all parties to stay committed to the international nuclear agreement reached last year, adding that Iran has options if the deal fails.

Iran hopes, however, for full implementation of the nuclear deal, Zarif said at a press conference in Bratislava following his meeting with his Slovakian counterpart.

Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the US election result will have no effect on Iran’s policies and that the deal cannot be dismissed by one government.

Iran’s announcements followed the US presidential election victory of Donald Trump, who opposed the Iranian nuclear deal during his election campaign.
