‘Krabi Airport’ is ready to receive flights during the high season.

Monporn' orders 'Krabi Airport' to prepare for flights during the high season, expecting more than 60% increase in passengers, confident in stimulating the tourism economy - generating income for the country. Mrs. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, said that she has ordered Krabi Airport and all relevant agencies to prepare for flights during the high season for tourism on the Andaman coast after receiving a report from the Department of Airports (DoA) that for the winter flight schedule for 2024/2025 (high season), there are airlines requesting to operate flights at Krabi Airport as domestic regular flights of more than 160 flights/week, international flights of more than 60 flights/week, and charter flights of more than 90 flights/week. It is expected that the number of passengers during the high season will increase by more than 60% from October 2024 to March 2025. Plans should be made to accommodate the increasing number of flights and users as follows: 1) Provide personnel to facilitat e at various points sufficient for the number of users. 2) Check the airport's facilities to ensure they are efficient and ready for use. 3) Promote the use of technology to facilitate passengers, such as advance check-in via various applications, using electronic identification documents via the Thai ID Application, and introducing the use of the self-service boarding pass system (CUPPS). 4) Increase the number of check-in points from 14 to 16 for users to facilitate speed and convenience, helping to reduce passenger congestion. 5) Prepare public transportation services within the airport to facilitate tourists to travel by public transportation seamlessly. Mrs. Manop continued that Krabi Province is one of the provinces with important natural tourist attractions for Thailand. Therefore, we intend to develop Krabi Airport to be one of the important travel hubs in the Andaman region, emphasizing the importance of international standard services, giving importance to passenger safety, and implementing the cou ntry's transport infrastructure development policy, which emphasizes connecting land, water, and air travel to create convenience and support the growth of tourism businesses in Krabi Province and other provinces. In addition to stimulating the local economy, it also promotes tourism and local businesses. Mr. Danai Ruangson, Director-General of the Department of Airports, added that currently, there are 6 airlines requesting to operate domestic scheduled flights at Krabi International Airport: Thai Air Asia, Bangkok Airways, Thai Vietjet, Thai Lion Air, Nok Air, and Thai Airways. There are 5 international scheduled flights: Flydubai, Scoot Tigerair, and Malindo Air. As for international charter flights, there are 2 existing airlines: TUI fly and LOT Polish Airlines, and a new airline: NEOS on the Prague-Krabi-Prague route. The AOT expects that in the first 3 months of the high season, Krabi Airport will see more than 60% more flights and passengers in October, more than 30% in November, and more than 20% in December.
