MEA visits disaster victims in Chiang Rai Province

Chiang Rai, 8 Oct. - MEA, together with partner agencies, went to the area to help and rehabilitate flood victims in Chiang Rai Province. Mr. Vilas Chalaysat, MEA Governor, along with MEA executives and volunteer staff, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), electricians, Electrical Division, Royal Thai Air Force Civil Engineering Department, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and partner agencies visited the area to monitor the assistance and rehabilitation of flood victims in Chiang Rai Province between 4 - 7 October 2024 at Chiang Rai Provincial Hall to ensure that flood victims have safe electrical systems back in use as soon as possible. The MEA Governor said that MEA, as an agency under the Ministry of Interior, responsible for the electricity distribution system, is concerned about the public's electrical system after the flooding from the northern flood that affected many areas of the North. It has collaborated with PEA and partner agencies to survey the areas of people's houses aff ected by the flood and damaged electrical equipment in the house. Therefore, during this visit, MEA is expediting assistance in replacing electrical equipment related to the electrical system in the house, such as installing electrical switches, electrical sockets, main circuit breakers, electrical wires, light bulb sets, leakage circuit breakers, and installing grounding wires according to standards for the safety of the public, which will help prevent dangers from electrical leakage and impacts on other electrical equipment in the house. The collaboration to help and rehabilitate flood victims in Chiang Rai Province this time was a result of cooperation from various partner agencies. MEA volunteer employees traveled by convoy to help flood victims and transport planes, supported by the Air Force and transport vehicles to enter the work area. Support from the Border Patrol Police (BPP) in mobilizing more than 160 MEA officers to travel to the area to help and rehabilitate, along with donating 300,000 baht f rom MEA employees and various clubs to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province, building confidence by improving the electrical system and replacing electrical equipment for people in the area for safety. In addition, in the past, MEA has joined in sending encouragement during the flood situation by donating 500 relief bags, electrical leakage detection equipment in water, and donating 500,000 baht to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province through the Mirror Foundation to be forwarded to help flood victims in Chiang Rai Province. -513-Thai News Agency Source: Thai News Agency
