Opening of ‘Multimodal Center’ to seamlessly connect land, rail, water and air transportation

Customs Department join forces to open 'Multi-modal Center' to seamlessly connect land, rail, water and air transportation through customs checkpoints in one place, driving Thai logistics industry to the international level. Airports of Thailand Ground Services Co., Ltd. or AOTGA, in collaboration with Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) and the Customs Department, launched the 'Customs Service Center for Distribution' or 'Multimodal Transportation Center', a comprehensive cross-border freight service center to support continuous transportation in various forms, including land, rail, water and air, with one-stop customs procedures in one place at the Duty Free Zone, Suvarnabhumi Airport (Zone 3), for the first time in Thailand. It can handle more than 50,000 tons per year to elevate Thailand's transportation and logistics industry to become the region's Aviation Hub, and join hands with 3 giants: FedEx, DHL and AGS. Mr. Siriwat Towachirakul, General Manager of Ground Services Co., Ltd. Airpor ts of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOTGA), an airport ground services provider and airport cargo terminal, revealed that AOTGA has launched the 'Customs Service Center for Cargo Distribution' or 'Multimodal Transportation Center' at the Duty Free Zone, Suvarnabhumi Airport (Zone 3). The Customs Department has permitted Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) to establish the Customs Service Center for Cargo Distribution, and Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited has assigned Airports of Thailand Ground Services Company Limited (AOT) to operate the Customs Service Center for Cargo Distribution. This is a significant collaboration that will revolutionize Thailand's logistics industry like never before. It highlights its strengths by integrating all types of transportation including land, rail, water and air, container consolidation and storage, and provides one-stop customs formalities in one place, creating new business opportunities and supporting the growth of e-commerce and elevating Tha iland to become a true regional logistics center with an investment of over 150 million baht on an area of ??over 4,872 square meters. Multi-modal center It is divided into 2 service areas: 1. Fixed Area, an area for private transport operators who are partners in customs service centers to distribute goods, and 2. Public Area, an area provided by AOTGA itself. The goal is to provide services to both domestic and international transport operators who are agents in providing international freight services (Freight Forwarders) and express consignment operators, especially the air freight business group, which has grown significantly from focusing on using Thailand as a HUB in the CLMV group of countries and focusing on the E-Commerce product group from supporting factors in aviation and flight networks connecting to other continents, especially Europe. In addition, AOTGA has brought modern innovations to provide services in the customs service centers to distribute goods, such as a customs tracking system from the customs checkpoint to the customs service center for distributing goods with an electronic key system (E-lock System) and an inventory control system (E-Inventory). Mr. Phanthong Loykulnan, Advisor on Tax Collection Development and Management, Customs Department, revealed that the establishment of the 'Customs Service Center for Distribution' or 'Multimodal Transportation Center' at Suvarnabhumi Airport Duty Free Zone (Zone 3) was established in accordance with the Customs Department Announcement No. 115/2564 with the objective of facilitating trade and benefiting the region's logistics hub. This is a collaboration that creates a great phenomenon that will help support the import and export process to be more convenient, increase competitiveness, reduce the steps and time in customs procedures, and make the ecosystem more modern.
