PM hosts New Year banquet for diplomatic corps

The event was attended by Deputy PMs Pham Binh Minh, Vuong Dinh Hue, Vu Duc Dam and Trinh Dinh Dung; Venezuelan Ambassador to Viet Nam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui, head of the diplomatic corps in Ha Noi; foreign ambassadors and chief representatives of international organizations.

Addressing the banquet, on behalf of the Vietnamese government and people, PM Phuc extended his New Year greetings to all ambassadors and representatives of foreign organizations in attendance, who are close friends of the Vietnamese people.

He emphasized that Viet Nam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, contributing to the global efforts to build a world of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

As the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) celebrates its 50th birthday in 2017, Viet Nam pledges to join hands with member nations to build an ASEAN Community of solidarity, robustness and dynamic development, playing a central role in the evolving regional architecture, the government leader said.

As the host country of the APEC Year 2017, Viet Nam has selected the theme “Creating a new driving force for a common future” and will work closely with member economies to bring APEC to a new height and promote regional integration and connection for regional and world peace and prosperity, he added, stressing that Viet Nam welcomes all international friends in the APEC Year 2017.

In the atmosphere of friendship, PM Phuc and his wife and international guests gave a toast wishing for peace, cooperation and prosperous development, as well as for the unceasing developments in the friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and countries and organizations in the region and around the world.

In his remarks, Venezuelan Ambassador to Viet Nam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui spoke highly of Viet Nam’s significant socio-economic and political achievements over the past year. In the field of foreign affairs, Viet Nam continued proving itself as a responsible country working for peace, friendship and economic cooperation, he said.

The ambassador affirmed that the diplomatic corps will always accompany Viet Nam in its national construction and development cause and continue collaborating with the Vietnamese State in facilitating effective foreign policies on both the bilateral and multilateral aspects.

He took the occasion to extend the best and most sincere New Year greetings to the Vietnamese Party, State and government leaders and the entire Vietnamese people.
