Project Launched to Develop Red-Headed Crane Flock in Tram Chim National Park

DONG THAP: The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap has initiated a project aimed at preserving and developing the population of the red-headed crane in Tram Chim National Park. The launch event, held on December 12, attracted officials from various Vietnamese ministries and sectors, along with representatives from international organizations, the Thai Embassy in Vietnam, and experts from both domestic and foreign institutions.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the project focuses on the red-headed crane, scientifically known as Grus antigone sharpie, which is a significant species within the region’s biodiversity. The initiative underscores a collaborative effort to enhance conservation strategies and ensure the survival of this iconic bird species in its natural habitat.

The presence of international organizations and experts at the ceremony highlights the global interest in the conservation of the red-headed crane. The involvement of the Thai Embassy further emphasizes regional cooperation in addressing en
vironmental challenges. The project is expected to implement strategies that not only protect the cranes but also contribute to the ecological balance of Tram Chim National Park.
