“Suriya” reiterates “Rama 3 – Dao Khanong Expressway and Motorway M82” must be completed by June 2025

'Suriya' draws a deadline of 11 months for 3 construction projects on Rama 2 Road, 'Rama 3 - Dao Khanong Expressway and Motorway M82' must be completed and open to the public by June 2025, ordering the Highways Department and the Expressway Authority of Thailand to closely monitor the work and report progress every month. He reveals good news about preparing to open 'Thotsamaratchan Bridge' and opening a trial run of the elevated road on Highway 35, Phanthai Norasing-Mahachai checkpoint, a distance of 4 km, at the end of this year, facilitating travel and transporting goods to the South conveniently, quickly, and safely. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Juangroongruangkit revealed the construction project on Highway No. 35 (Rama II Road) that currently, Rama II Road has 3 construction projects underway: 1) Expressway project, Rama III - Dao Khanong - Outer Ring Road of Bangkok, Western section, under the responsibility of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT). The overall progres s of the project is currently 80.92% and is expected to open for service in June 2025. As for the Thotsamaratchan Bridge or the parallel bridge of Rama IX Bridge, the construction is now complete and is expected to open for service in late 2024. 2) Elevated road construction project, Highway No. 35, Bang Khun Thian - Ekkachai section, 8.3 kilometers (km) under the responsibility of the Department of Highways (DoH). The construction is expected to be completed by November 2024 and will be open for public trial use temporarily between Phanthai Norasing Tollway and Mahachai Tollway, a distance of 4 km, by the end of this year. As for the connecting point with the Expressway project, Rama III - Dao Khanong - Outer Ring Road of Bangkok, Western section, The construction of the entrance and exit has been expedited to open for public use. 3) The Motorway No. 82 (M82) project, Bang Khun Thian - Ban Phaeo, Ekachai - Ban Phaeo section, a distance of 16.3 km., is expected to be completed according to the plan by June 20 25 and will be fully open for service along the entire route by 2027. Mr. Suriya continued that from the reports of the Expressway Authority of Thailand and the Department of Highways, it was confirmed that all projects on Rama II Road are still under control and will definitely be completed by June 2025. Currently, there are 11 more months to expedite the project to be completed according to the plan. Both agencies have been assigned to report the progress of the project to the Ministry of Transport every month, with strict inspections and strict operations, taking into account the safety of the public as the main priority. In performing duties, there must be absolutely no accidents. However, when all projects are completed, it will facilitate travel and the transportation of goods to the South conveniently, quickly, and safely. 'Every month, the responsible units are assigned to report on the progress of the project. From looking at the reports in the past, everything is ready, including the operation pla n, equipment, tools, machinery, personnel, and others. Previously, both units went to observe the process from casting beams at the factory to see how many beams could be made and if they could be completed in time. Therefore, in the remaining 11 months, it is believed that all projects under construction on Rama II Road will be completed by June 2025 and ready for the public to use,' said Mr. Suriya. For the overall progress of the projects on Rama 2 Road, there are the following progresses: The Expressway Project from Rama 3 - Dao Khanong - Outer Ring Road under the supervision of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), from the latest report, Contract 1 has a construction progress of 70.19%, Contract 2 is 89.16%, and Contract 3 is 76.38%. Meanwhile, the projects under the supervision of the Department of Highways include the elevated Highway No. 35, Bang Khun Thian - Ekkachai section, a distance of 8.3 km. The project progress is divided into Section 1, 96.83% progress, Section 2, 93.52% progress, an d Section 3, 96% progress. As for the M82 project, Ekkachai - Ban Phaeo section, a distance of 16.3 km, there are 10 sections in total. The completion period will mostly be in June 2025 or earlier than planned. The latest progress is divided into Section 1, progress of 67.759%, Section 2, progress of 55.815%, Section 3, progress of 50.413%, Section 4, progress of 46.415%, Section 5, progress of 70.512%, Section 6, progress of 41.111%, Section 7, progress of 35.851%, Section 8, progress of 63.190%, Section 9, progress of 82.885%, and Section 10, progress of 61.092%. In addition, the Ban Phaeo Interchange project consists of construction of 1 road and 2 bridges.
