US President assigns Larry Kudlow as top economic adviser

US President Donald Trump will name economist Larry Kudlow Director of the National Economic Council, according to US media.

Kudlow’s predecessor Gary Cohn resigned last week after President Trump imposed new tariffs for imported steel and aluminum.

70-year-old Kudlow has known Mr. Trump for years and advised him on policy matters during the 2016 presidential campaign. He used to be economic adviser for former US President Ronald Reagan, and a TV commentator.
