The Vietnam Fine Arts Association celebrated its 60thanniversary on Tuesday.

Over the past 60 years, the Association has produced artworks that reflect people’s lives and have had a wide-spread influence on society. Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, said: “The Vietnam Fine Arts Association needs to promote its creativity and continue its contributions to elevating Vietnamese art in the region and the world. The Association also needs to gather artists and encourage them to create more artworks with high artistic and ideological values. It’s essential to increase exhibitions introducing new artworks to the public.”

The Association currently has more than 1,900 members throughout the country. It received the Labor Order, first class, in 1960, Ho Chi Minh Order in 1997, and the Gold Star Order in 2007.
