Vietnam, India agree on measures to strengthen defense ties

Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich held talks with his Indian counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman in Hanoi on Tuesday during the latter’s official visit to Vietnam this week.

Both sides discussed regional and global issues of shared concern and agreed on measures to boost bilateral defense ties. Both ministers underscored the importance of maintaining existing cooperation mechanisms such as deputy ministerial-level defense policy dialogue, meetings of the Joint Working Group on bilateral defense cooperation, and consultations between Vietnamese and Indian officers of naval, land and air forces.

During the stay, the Indian Defense Minister will attend the 4th Vietnam � India Defense Industry Business Meeting and visit several units of the Vietnam People’s Army.
