Vietnam, Japan boost defense cooperation

Effective defense cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, including ties between the two ground forces, has made a significant contribution to bilateral friendship.

Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), made the statement while receiving Chief of Staff of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, General Yamazaki Koji in Hanoi on Monday.

During earlier talks with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the VPA Pham Hong Huong, both sides discussed cooperation orientations and their participation in UN peacekeeping missions, humanitarian relief, disaster mitigation, and military medicine collaboration.
