VN – attractive destination for Swiss businesses

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made that statement at his reception for State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Director and Director of the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate State Secretary Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch on October 11.

The PM hailed the two countries’ cooperation in organizing activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the Viet Nam Day in Switzerland.

Viet Nam welcomes Swiss businesses to invest in Viet Nam, he said, adding that Viet Nam always facilitates foreign investors, including ones from Switzerland, to launch successful operation in Viet Nam.

Viet Nam highly spoke of Switzerland and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) to recognize Viet Nam’s market economy in July 2002, he said, expecting that Switzerland backs all sides to continue negotiating the Viet Nam-EFTA (including Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein) Free Trade Agreement.

Viet Nam commits to effectively using the Official Development Assistance (ODA) from Switzerland, he affirmed, suggesting Switzerland continue providing ODA in the 2017-2020 period for the nation’s development target programs in the future.

The nation hopes Switzerland will share experience in high-quality education, especially vocational training, science and technology development in universities and grant more scholarships for Vietnamese students, he said.

Swiss businesses are concerned about Viet Nam’s market, considering the nation as an attractive destination for investment and business, said Ms. Marie-Gabrielle.

Viet Nam has become one of the most crucial partners of Switzerland in Asia, she added.

She confirmed that her visit is aimed at strengthening the two nations’ relations, including the acceleration of the Viet Nam-EFTA Free Trade Agreement negotiations.

She expressed her hope that the two nations will promote high-ranking delegation exchanges in the future.
