Younger brother shoots older sister dead at mother’s funeral, claims she was angry that she was not allowed to attend the funeral

A younger brother pulled out a gun and shot his older sister to death in the middle of their mother’s funeral. Later, the younger brother turned himself in to the police, claiming that the reason for the killing was because he was angry and felt that his older sister was very cruel for preventing him from helping with the funeral arrangements.

This incident happened in the middle of the pavilion of Wat Taphan, Sri Banphot District, Phatthalung Province. The person who was shot was Mrs. Nittaya, aged 67, and the shooter was Mr. Thaweesak, aged 60. The two were brothers. As for the story before the shooting in the middle of the funeral of Mrs. Klin, aged 99, the mother of both of them, those who attended the funeral said that they saw the two arguing and fighting before the chanting of Buddhist scriptures, causing relatives to have to come and stop them.

Then, during the monks’ chanting, Mr. Thaweesak was present and was also the one who presented offerings to the monks. But when the ceremony was over, as th
e villagers and relatives were helping to put away the chairs, suddenly several gunshots were heard. The villagers and relatives were shocked and ran away in different directions until the gunfire stopped. They came out to see Mr. Thaweesak walking out of the temple hall with a gun while Mrs. Nittaya was lying dead with a wound on her head from being shot with a .38 mm gun a total of 3 times.

While some villagers told the police that they saw Mr. Thaweesak take a gun out of his bag and walk towards his sister, Ms. Nittaya, who was sitting there. He then shot her in the head once. When Ms. Nittaya fell out of her chair, Mr. Thaweesak shot her again until she died.

Villagers suspect that the cause may have been the two siblings fighting over land, which was a family inheritance, because the matter was so serious that they sued each other in court. After the mother died, Mrs. Nittaya announced that she would hold the funeral for her mother alone, forbidding Mr. Thaweesak from entering the funeral at all costs.

However, after the incident, Mr. Thaweesak, who had fled the temple, contacted the police to surrender, telling them to wait at home. Mr. Thaweesak then rode a motorcycle to surrender and took the police to get the gun used in the incident, which was hidden in a rubber plantation.

“Thaweesak” insists that he shot his brother because he was resentful that

his sister was heartless and wouldn’t let him join his mother’s funeral. As for the motive, Mr. Thaweesak insists that the problem wasn’t about inheritance, but rather that he was resentful that his sister wouldn’t let him join his mother’s funeral. His brother-in-law also told him not to join in making merit, and he was preventing everything. The night before the incident, he came to sleep and watch over his mother’s body at the pavilion. He kept thinking in his head why his sister was so heartless. Even when his mother died, she wouldn’t let him join the funeral. The more he thought about it, the more resentful he became. After his mother’s funeral, he de
cided to pull out a gun and shoot his sister to follow her mother.

‘Thaweesak’ apologizes to everyone – police press charges of intentional murder

Initially, the police pressed charges against Mr. Thaweesak as ‘intentional murder’. Mr. Thaweesak personally apologizes to everyone for the incident that occurred, including asking his wife to take good care of herself, sell the cows she raises first, and tap the rubber only when necessary because his wife is not very strong.

The funeral hall for the mother is quiet – the body of Mrs. Nittaya has been taken to another temple by her children.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere at Wat Taphan, where the body of the couple’s mother is located, this morning is rather quiet. No relatives of the deceased have come to the location of the body. There are only people hired to decorate the hall. As for Mrs. Nittaya’s body, the children are preparing to take the body from the hospital to Wat Phraek Ha in Khuan Khanun District for religious rites. Regarding the legal case, Mrs. Nit
taya’s children said to let it follow the legal process.
