A 6-wheel truck ran a red light and hit a 68-year-old man riding a motorcycle with a sidecar. He was run over by the wheels and died. The truck driver claimed that the truck was heavy and coming fast, causing him to be unable to brake in time.

CCTV footage at the Khlong Nam Sai red light intersection, Taksin New Road, intersecting with Phraya Trang Road, Village 10, Tha Chang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chanthaburi Province, captured the moment when the light turned green and the car had already started moving. Suddenly, a truck ran the red light and crashed into a motorcycle with a sidecar. The uncle riding the motorcycle with a sidecar fell under the truck before being run over by the truck’s rear wheel, which dragged his body for several tens of meters, causing his death on the spot. The incident occurred yesterday (September 10) at 8 a.m.

After the incident, Chanthaburi City Police Station officers, along with forensic doctors from Phra Pok Klao Hospital, traveled to inspect the scene. They found th
e body of Mr. Pleun, aged 68, in the middle of the road, and a damaged three-wheeled motorcycle with a sidecar nearby.

Ms. Porn, the younger sister of the deceased, said that her brother was a scrap collector. Before the incident, he woke up early in the morning to take scraps to sell at a shop. At the time of the incident, he was probably on his way back to his daughter at Keha Village 2, which is not far from this traffic light intersection.

The driver of the 6-wheel truck, Mr. Phuchit, 24 years old, cried and felt guilty, waiting to give a statement to the police at the scene. He claimed that at the time of the accident he was traveling with 3 other employees from Bangkok to deliver ceiling equipment to Chanthaburi town. When they approached the red light intersection on a downhill road, the orange traffic light changed to red. But because the truck was heavy and driving fast, he was unable to stop in time. The car on the other side had a green light and started moving, so he crashed head-on into the mot
orcycle with the sidecar.

Initially, the police invited the driver of the 6-wheel truck for further questioning at the police station and reviewed CCTV footage to determine the exact cause and proceed with legal action.
