BAAC joins hands with TRIS to support "BAAC Carbon Credit", Ban Ta Li Tree Bank, Khon Kaen Province. Mr. Seksan Chankwang, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), Mr. Narong Khantiwiriyakul, Deputy Managing Director of BAAC, Mr. Chettha Laepong, Deputy Managing Director of BAAC, and Mr. Komen Kotsriwong, Assistant Managing Director of BAAC, led executives and officers from TRIS Corporation Co., Ltd. to visit and listen to a briefing on the progress of BAAC's social and environmental projects under the 'Change Air into Money BAAC Carbon Credit Project' at the Ban Tha Li Tree Bank, Ban Kong Subdistrict, Nong Ruea District, Khon Kaen Province. This is the first time that 400 tons of carbon credits have been bought and sold, with BAAC buying at a semi-CSR price of 3,000 baht per ton, totaling 1.2 million baht, and aiming to increase the amount of carbon credits from communities to the market by more than 150,000 tons of carbon within 7 years. BAAC is preparin g to expand the project to over 6,800 tree bank communities nationwide, supporting the planting of 108,000 more trees per year, and setting a target to generate more than 510,000 tons of carbon credits by 2028. In addition to generating income for tree planters, the project also encourages the increase in green areas that will absorb carbon, alleviate the impact of global warming, and push Thailand to achieve carbon neutrality as planned. BAAC invites interested government and private agencies to join in driving the mission of environmental conservation, which can meet the goals of the business sector and support income for communities to plant trees to increase green areas, as well as help create a strong and sustainable economy for the country.
