Bangkok tests prefabricated flood barriers at Tha Ratchaworadit Pier

Bangkok tests prefabricated flood barriers (HYDRO FENCE) at Tha Ratchaworadit Pier. If successful, plans to expand to other locations.

Mr. Suphamit Laithong, Deputy Director of the Drainage and Sewerage Department, revealed after the trial installation of the prefabricated hydro fence at the pier entrance of Ratchaworadit Pier, Phra Nakhon District that after Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, received 50 prefabricated hydro fences from Summit Plus Innovation, today the Drainage and Sewerage Department came to test the installation at the pier entrance of Ratchaworadit Pier, which is a point where people travel all the time. Originally, sandbags had to be arranged to open and close with the tides rising and falling regularly. Therefore, in addition to using manpower, the work also required careful monitoring and the use of many sandbags. Today, we brought the prefabricated hydro fences that we received to test the installation. It turned out that the installation time was reduced, it was convenie
nt and fast, and the number of sandbags was saved. There are about 32 pier entrances along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. We will have to see if it works well, and it will be expanded to other places. This is one innovation that the BMA is trying to find to use in flood prevention.
