Brutal deputy shoots girlfriend to death – police reveal he was pressured so hard he lost his mind

A young district officer lost his mind, tricked his girlfriend into coming to the police station and shot her to death before surrendering to the police immediately. It was found that he had previously kicked his girlfriend’s ribs and broken them. Relatives cried as they took the body to their hometown in Surin Province for religious rites.

The CCTV clip that Ms. Kanya, the deceased, brought to complain to reporters became a big news story on July 11th after she was assaulted by Mr. Thakoon, the District Chief of Sangkha, who was helping the administration of Mueang Surin District. In some parts of the clip, the victim can be seen naked, trying to run and snatch the car keys, but her boyfriend was not happy and slapped and kicked her.

At times, the perpetrator held a knife and smashed a guitar, along with destroying property in the house. After the incident, Ms. Kanya went to file a complaint against her boyfriend at Sangkha Police Station for assault, injury, and property damage, which led to Mr. Thakoon
being ordered to transfer to work as a civil servant in the Surin City District Administration Office.

Until yesterday (August 19), the story escalated into a tragic event when Mr. Thakoon decided to use a gun to shoot Ms. Kanya in the right ear, causing her death in her car in the parking lot next to Wang Muang Police Station, Saraburi Province, before Mr. Thakoon immediately surrendered to the police.

Today (August 20), Wang Muang Police investigators brought Mr. Thakoon from the detention cell for further questioning, which took more than 2 hours to complete. While being taken back to the detention cell, reporters tried to ask Mr. Thakoon about the cause of the incident, but Mr. Thakoon showed indifference and refused to say anything. Officers took Mr. Thakoon into solitary confinement, with CCTV cameras monitoring the suspect’s movements at all times, to prevent the suspect from causing any unexpected incidents.

Pol Lt Col Natthachat Ketchat, deputy chief of Wang Muang police station, said today the su
spect was brought in for further questioning. He continued to give similar statements to those given to the commander of Saraburi provincial police after he surrendered to police. He claimed that he had thought things through and did not want anyone to suffer.

As for the timeline before the incident that the police concluded, Mr. Thakoon and Ms. Kanya had a physical assault problem that led to a lawsuit. Mr. Thakoon tried to resolve the problem but could not reach an agreement.

Then, 3 days ago, the couple traveled together from Sangkha District, Surin Province, to visit Mr. Thakoon’s mother in Wang Muang District, Saraburi Province, stopping at various places along the way. Then, Mr. Thakoon traveled to Wang Muang District to meet his friends. During that time, Ms. Kanya talked about the same old problems that they had. Mr. Thakoon tried to persuade Ms. Kanya to withdraw the complaint and stop complaining to her superiors. However, Ms. Kanya refused to agree. He also set a condition that if she wanted to s
top the lawsuit, Mr. Thakoon must take responsibility for raising Ms. Kanya properly. Then, Ms. Kanya would quickly divorce her foreign husband and live together openly as husband and wife. However, Mr. Thakoon could not comply with Ms. Kanya’s wishes, causing the two to have a serious argument.

The trigger that made Mr. Thakoon furious enough to use a gun to shoot Ms. Kanya was the threat that if she did not agree or could not reach an agreement, Ms. Kanya would press charges for the assault case that she had filed and complained to her superiors, which ultimately led to her dismissal from the civil service.

Initially, Mr. Thakoon was charged with intentional murder and carrying a firearm in public. The suspect did not want to reenact the crime scene according to his confession. The investigator will take Mr. Thakoon to the Saraburi Provincial Court for detention tomorrow (August 21) and will object to bail. The relatives of the deceased have already objected to bail.

At the Institute of Forensic Medicine
, Ministry of Justice, Ms. Kanya’s sister and relatives traveled to claim the body to take back to her hometown in Surin Province for religious rites, grieving. She admitted that she had warned the young deputy chief about her relationship with him several times, especially after the news broke about his assault last month.
