Corrections Department sends convicted prisoners to help with flood relief in Chiang Rai Province

Mr. Phatsapong Jaiklongklaew, Commander of Chiang Rai Central Prison, led 30 prisoners in accordance with the Department of Corrections’ regulations on sending prisoners to work in public or other work for the benefit of the government outside the prison, B.E. 2566, along with Chiang Rai Central Prison officers and network partners to make sandbags to make flood walls, distribute relief bags to the public, and help restore and clean up community areas to alleviate initial suffering from flooding caused by the impact of the overflowing Kok River flooding houses.

This activity aims to enhance the development of behavior through working with prisoners outside prisons effectively and enhance the organization’s image according to the 8-dimensional Corrections Administration Policy, Section 7: Raise the level of acceptance and build social confidence in prisoners and ex-prisoners by requiring prisons/correctional institutions nationwide to prepare labor for prisoners according to the Corrections Department regula
tions on sending prisoners to work in public or other jobs for the benefit of the government outside prisons, B.E. 2566, or prisoners according to the Corrections Department regulations on selecting prisoners to work outside prisons, B.E. 2561, along with preparing materials, equipment, tools, and vehicles to assist the public. In addition, landscape improvements, repairs, and rehabilitation are carried out in flood-affected areas and to alleviate various hardships, as well as providing assistance to the public and agencies in the provinces that request them.

In the fiscal year 2024, the Department of Corrections has continuously taken those who have made mistakes according to the criteria set by the Department of Corrections to prevent flooding, especially cleaning drains and developing the cleaning of water sources nationwide, covering a distance of more than 2,000 kilometers.
