MRTA explains facts about excavator accident

MRTA clarifies facts in the case of an excavator accident in which a drilling vehicle fell in the construction area of ??the ventilation shaft building (IVS06) of the Purple Line electric train project, Tao Poon-Rat Burana section (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road). As for the excavator accident that occurred while working in the construction area of ??the Purple Line electric train project, Tao Poon-Rat Burana section (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road), in the area of ??Soi Taksin 9/3 on Somdech Phra Chao Taksin Road, In this regard, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) would like to clarify the facts as follows: The accident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. on September 12, 2024 at Soi Taksin 9/3 on Somdech Phra Chao Taksin Road, which is the construction site of the ventilation shaft building (IVS06) of the Purple Line Project, Tao Poon - Rat Burana (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road) section. Unique Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited, the contractor for the design and construction of the tunn el and underground station of the Purple Line Project, Tao Poon - Rat Burana (Kanchanaphisek Ring Road) Contract 4, Saphan Phut - Dao Khanong section, was in the process of drilling the soil to construct the ventilation shaft building (IVS06) and the excavator fell over, causing one motorcyclist to be injured. The injured person was later taken to Samitivej Thonburi Hospital, where he is under the care of doctors and has received initial treatment. The contractor will provide compensation to the injured person. By taking responsibility for all medical and recuperation costs, compensation for lost income, and repair costs for damaged motorcycles, including other additional remedial measures. MRTA apologizes for the incident. Due to the incident, MRTA has ordered the contractor to immediately stop working in the area for 7 days. The construction consultant and contractor have been ordered to investigate the real cause and review the safety measures of the project to prevent such incidents from happening again. MRTA will also implement the handbook measure to deduct points for contractors/concessionaires. If an accident occurs, points will be deducted. If a large number of points are deducted, it may affect the bidding process.
