Nan’s commercial district: Water levels begin to recede, but communities remain flooded

This morning, the water level in the commercial and economic zones of Nan city began to recede, but the water level in the communities is still high, causing great suffering to the locals.

The main road condition in the commercial and economic area of ??Nan city. This morning, the water level that was almost 1 meter high has decreased to the point where traffic surfaces can be seen. Small cars can now pass after the water level in the Nan River has decreased below the flood barrier by almost 1 meter, but it is still above the critical point, causing some areas of the road to still be flooded. Shop owners have begun to survey the damage and clean up some of them. Most of them said they were relieved that the water has decreased after being flooded for 3 days, including the fresh market in the center of Nan city, which is still flooded. Vendors had to wade through the water to inspect their belongings and products that were damaged by the flood.

However, houses in various communities are still flooded, causi
ng severe hardship for the villagers. Various agencies, including monks from temples outside the city, have to distribute food to alleviate the suffering. Nan Municipality is assessing that if the water level drops below the bank, it will open the floodgates to let the water flow into the Nan River, or if the Nan River level remains stable, it will use the method of pumping water out to reduce the impact. It has been reported that at noon today, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, will travel to monitor the situation and provide encouragement to the affected villagers in Nan Province.
