Nong Khai city floods continue to rise and spread widely

The flood situation in Nong Khai city is still increasing and expanding after the Mekong River pushed water out through the drainage pipes.

The Thai News Agency team surveyed various roads in Nong Khai Municipality and found that the water had expanded during the early morning. Prajaksilpakom Road, a major economic road, was still flooded for the second day and was still rising. Many businesses were unable to operate and people were having a hard time living. This morning, rescue workers moved elderly and bedridden patients to the hospital for treatment. Some of these people were moved to shelters prepared by government agencies or to stay at relatives’ houses in safe areas. Those at high risk were moved to the hospital for observation.

As for the sandbags that are the Mekong River bank, which were broken by the current yesterday evening, officials have been repairing and reinforcing them, adding more sandbags and reinforcing barriers throughout the night. Volunteer villagers have come to help protect the city from the water mass. Up until now, they are still continuously filling sandbags to reinforce them. Meanwhile, the Mekong River shows good signs. At 9:00 a.m., the river was 13.80 meters high, down 2 centimeters from 2:00 a.m. 715 .
