PEA rushes to restore power supply to flooded areas in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai

PEA mobilized its forces with over 250 workers to urgently inspect the distribution system damaged by floods in order to increase the supply of electricity in the areas of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai provinces. Mr. Mongkol Trikitjanon, Deputy Governor of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), revealed that PEA has a plan to restore the electricity distribution system affected by the flood. Before distributing electricity, the safety of the public and employees is of utmost importance. They have mobilized a team of over 250 electricians, equipment, and vehicles from Provincial Electricity Authority Region 2 (North), Phitsanulok Province, and Provincial Electricity Authority Region 3 (North), Lopburi Province, to help expedite the restoration of electricity to the public as soon as possible. The current status of electricity supply in areas affected by the flood is as follows: 1. Muang Chiang Rai District, Mae Sai District, Mae Chan District, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Saen District, Doi Luang Distri ct, Chiang Rai Province, 35,366 affected electricity users, 18,347 have been restored, leaving 17,019 affected electricity users. 2. Mae Ai District, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province, 4,248 affected electricity users, 3,174 have been restored, leaving 1,074 affected electricity users. For areas that are still unable to provide electricity due to landslides, broken roads, or large trees blocking the way, it is impossible to proceed. Support from local agencies is needed to adjust the roads so that they can be traveled. For flooded areas, the water level must be reduced to a safe level before electricity can be restored to normal. In this regard, people who encounter electricity problems can contact the Provincial Electricity Authority at 1129 PEA Contact Center, 24 hours a day. Source: Thai News Agency
