Praise the student who saved the life of a girl who jumped into the canal.

Praise for male and female students who saved a woman who jumped into a canal before notifying rescue workers to take her to the hospital where she survived. A suicide note was found saying she was suffering from depression.

At around 7pm yesterday (August 19), a shocking incident occurred when a female student from a famous university in Buriram Province jumped into the ancient Lam Lom Canal, the second one in Buriram Municipality, in an attempt to commit suicide. However, male and female students from Buriram Agricultural and Technological College and Buriram Technical College who were sitting by the canal saw the incident and helped the female student who was having suicidal thoughts to get her out of the canal safely before notifying rescue workers to come and take her to Buriram Hospital.

At the scene, a handwritten farewell note was found that said, ‘My name is Preem. I have made every decision well. I have thought it through very well. Thank you for loving and hugging me. Depression is scary like th
is.’ Her name and surname were written at the bottom of the paper. It was placed with her mobile phone, flip-flops, and car keys.

Mr. Surasit Khunkaewphanaw, a first-year student at Buriram Technical College, one of the students who went to help, said that while he was sitting with three friends about 30 meters away from where the woman was sitting, he saw the woman wearing a shop shirt and shorts sitting alone by the Lam Lom canal, not talking to anyone. After a while, he saw her jump into the water. He and his friends, along with several other people who were sitting and exercising, went to help pull her out of the water. When they were helped out of the water, she was choking and crying.

Ms. Panadda Ekaram, another student from the College of Agriculture who went to help, said that while she was sitting and playing with her friends, she heard a sound like something falling into the water. At first, she thought that someone had gone down to find fish, but when she heard a sound like something, she quickly
went to look and realized that someone had jumped into the water. At the scene, she found a suicide note. When she saw the name, she realized that it was her friend’s older sister, who was in the same class. She quickly called her friend and notified the rescue team to take her to the hospital. –
