The War Elephants beat Vietnam 2-1 in the LP BANK CUP 2024.

In the 40th minute, the Thai national team took the lead when Nicholas Mickelson got the ball to Patrick Gustafsson who had a chance to break through and shoot twice, giving the Thai national team a 2-1 lead. This was Gustafsson's fir st goal for the senior national team. In the 45+3 minute of injury time, Vietnam had a chance to equalize. Nguyen Quang Hai shot with his left foot in the penalty area, but the ball was saved by Patiwat Khammai. At the end of the first half, Thailand led Vietnam 2-1. In the second half, in the 86th minute, Vietnam had a chance to equalize. Nguyen Tuan Anh shot from outside the penalty area. The ball hit the crossbar before Nguyen Tien Linh headed the ball in the penalty area. The ball went into Patiwat Khammai's hands. The game ended with the Thai national team defeating Vietnam 2-1.
