Vietnam to try hard in match against Saudi Arabia: head coach

Head coach of the national men’s football team Park Hang-seo has said he believes that Vietnamese footballers will perform well and overcome challenges in the first match in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers’ final round, especially as it is played on Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

During a press conference held on September 1 midnight (Vietnam time) ahead of the game against the hosts Saudi Arabia, the Korean coach underlined that this is the first time ever Vietnam has advanced to the third and final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The match will put pressure on Vietnamese players, but they have experience facing rivals from the Middle East at the 2019 Asian Cup and the 2018 Asian Games, he stated.

Park said Saudi Arabia are among the Asian powerhouses and Vietnamese players will spare no efforts to make their supporters at home proud.

For his part, captain Que Ngoc Hai said all members are excited with the match at the third round, highlighting that the players have been ready for the game against their tough rivals and determined to do their best.

Meanwhile, head coach of Saudi Arabia Herve Renard spoke highly of Vietnam’s defence and discipline, adding that his team will stay vigilant during the match.

The fixture is slated to kick off at 1am on September 3 (Vietnam time).

Online trade promotion – Leverage to boost connectivity, improve brands

Online trade promotion is currently considered as an effective solution for businesses to maintain contacts with their export markets and also a tool to learn about market trends, developments and demand.

The outbreak of COVID-19 in many countries has forced Vietnam’s import and export markets to take strong measures to contain the spread of the pandemic. This has hindered the organisation of traditional trade promotion activities of enterprises.

Therefore, a change in the work is a must to create a leverage for industries and businesses to connect with and build brands in their export markets to overcome the pandemic.

In fact, a shift from offline fairs to online promotion has helped increase export turnover and exploit new markets in the new situation.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s total trade turnover in July is estimated at 55.7 billion USD, a month-on-month rise of 1.5 percent.

Demand for imports remains high, as countries are speeding up vaccination against COVID-19 and reopening their doors, thus helping raise the demand for textiles, footwear, furniture and electronics from Vietnam.

In addition, free trade agreements are being implemented in a more comprehensive and effective manner, and expected to continue promoting Vietnam’s exports.

Therefore, online trade connectivity is a golden key for the goods of Vietnamese enterprises to reach out to the world.

General Director of the Hanoi Trading Corporation Vu Thanh Son said, with the cost equal to one tenth of that of face-to-face contact, online connectivity is currently a solution for businesses to maintain contacts with their export markets, as well as a tool to learn about market trends, developments and needs.

Moreover, enterprises can do marketing globally, access information and conduct transactions with customers around the clock.

However, experts advised enterprises not to rely only on state promotion programmes, but actively trade and connect online with partners around the world through the use of e-commerce platforms or social networks.

Prime Minister to attend 2021 Global Trade in Services Summit in China

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend and deliver a speech at the 2021 Global Trade in Services Summit via video in the evening of September 2, at an invitation from Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

This is the main activity within the framework of the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) co-organised by the Ministry of Commerce of China. The CIFTIS will be held from Sept. 2 – 7 in Beijing.

Under the theme “Digitalisation opens the future, Services promote development”, leaders of will focus on recognising and evaluating the importance of the digitisation for the socio-economic development of each country, in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Chinh’s speech will be on Vietnam’s views on the development of the digital economy, digital technology and international cooperation in this field.

CIFTIS2021 is the largest of its kind with the participation of more than 700 enterprises. It will see 15 related conferences and forums. This is also the first time Vietnamese enterprises participates in both offline and online formats.

South Phu Quoc emerges as new resort paradise

Amid increasing pressure of life and the risks of diseases, finding a nice living space for both spiritual and mental strengths will be a trend and the South Phu Quoc in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang is an ideal destination for such philosophy.

Phu Quoc is viewed as a jade enveloped in primitive forests coupled with an ecosystem diversity.

The Telegraph of the UK once described the island as a “best-kept secret” in Asia. Recently, the Time magazine of the US named the “pearl island” among 100 world’s greatest places of 2021.

Google marks Vietnam’s National Day with national flag doodle

A new animated image of Vietnam’s national flag is being featured on the Google search on the country’s National Day – September 2.

Under the flag is a symbolic image of a large red ship, with a yellow border, meaning that the Vietnamese will overcome all adversities.

On its homepage, Google said: “Contemporary celebrations of National Day are characterized by citizens flying the Vietnamese flag outside their homes or taking the day to travel. Although celebrations are different this year as many honor this day from the comfort of their homes, the message of national solidarity remains an important reminder that the Vietnamese community is stronger together.”

In addition to the National Day, Google also pays attention to other Vietnamese holidays and shows this respect through its doodles, which can include events such as Hung King’s Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year.

President Ho Chi Minh bust erected in New Delhi

A bust of Vietnam’s late President Ho Chi Minh was erected in New Delhi, India on September 1 on the occasion of the Southeast Asian nation’s 76th National Day (September 2).

This is one of the final stages to prepare for the inauguration of the monument to the late leader in New Delhi – part of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to India slated for the end of 2021 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Attending the ceremony were Secretary of State of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, representatives from the New Delhi government, ambassadors and chargés d’affaires of ASEAN countries, representatives of the Vietnamese community in India and many organisations and trade unions of the host country. Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau said that the bust is a symbol for the close relationship nurtured by generations of the two countries’ leaders.

The bronze bust is in a 4,700sq.m park, located in the diplomatic corps.

National Day celebrated in Spain

The Vietnamese Embassy in Spain on September 1 organised a ceremony to mark Vietnam’s 76th National Day (September 2), drawing the participation of all embassy staff, the Vietnamese Honourary Consul in Sevilla, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Madrid.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Hoang Xuan Hai emphasised the great significance of the National Day, and highlighted the glorious feats of Vietnam during the national building and safeguarding cause over the past 76 years, especially Vietnam’s outstanding achievements in the renewal, international integration and national development process in the past 35 years which help turn Vietnam into a dynamic developing country and raise the country’s position in the international arena.

Hai also reviewed the development of Vietnam-Spain relations since they established their diplomatic ties on May 23, 1977, and set up the strategic partnership towards the future in 2009. The bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation is developing well, with two-way trade hitting 3 billion USD in recent years.

Vietnamese delegation to UN celebrates National Day

The Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations on September 1 held an online ceremony to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the National Day (September 2).

Vietnamese expats living, working and studying in New York, along with officials and employees of Vietnamese representative agencies in New York joined the activity.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the delegation, emphasised the great significance of the day and the achievements Vietnam has achieved in the cause of Doi Moi.

The diplomat called on Vietnamese living all over the world to continue helping the people in the country to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and spoke highly of the contributions by the overseas Vietnamese community to the work.
