Alaska Structures, Inc. Announces Company Renaming and Restructuring

A New Corporate Structure to Support Growth Strategy and Expand Individual Brands

KIRKLAND, Wash., July 01, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Alaska Structures, Inc. (Alaska) is pleased to announce that, following the recent tremendous expansion of its product lines and its successful consolidation with WeatherPort Shelter Systems, the company is implementing a strategic renaming and restructuring program that reflects its continued growth and expanded product offerings. Effective July 1, 2022, Alaska will be renamed “AKS Industries, Inc.” and will serve as a parent corporation holding all its existing product lines under three new corporate divisions: Alaska Defense™, Alaska Structures®, and BLU-MED Response Systems®.

The timing of the renaming and restructuring program coincides with the expansion of Alaska Defense’s hard-wall container-based product lines, as well as a significant milestone in the company’s history. Alaska is known for providing the world’s most popular and widely used soft-wall shelter systems, with more than 65,000 shelter systems successfully deployed in 85-plus countries. Now, with nearly 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space in the USA, AKS Industries™ has grown to become the most efficient and largest manufacturer of its kind. In addition to manufacturing the highest-quality fabric buildings made anywhere in the world, AKS Industries now has the in-house capability to manufacture heavy-duty cargo trailers, expeditionary light towers, and modular container systems.

“This is an exciting development for AKS Industries and our customers. We now offer the option of both soft- and hard-wall building solutions. Bringing this capability in-house allows us to expand our product offerings and create containerized buildings that deliver the same rugged durability our customers expect, but also seamlessly integrate with our well-known plug-and-play capabilities,” stated COO Gerrit Boyle.

Under the new structure, the company’s three divisions will be as follows:

Alaska Defense™ — Formerly the Military Division of Alaska Structures, Alaska Defense will remain focused on providing rapidly deployable military shelter systems and military base camps while expanding its new lines of containerized facilities, including containerized shower/latrine systems to support military base camps. Alaska Defense will continue to support the rapid expansion of forces and enhance mission readiness with energy-efficient and scalable solutions that offer unmatched setup and strike capability for expeditionary or enduring deployments anywhere in the world.

Alaska Structures® — Formerly Alaska’s commercial division, the Alaska Structures division of AKS Industries™ will continue to manufacture commercial fabric buildings and remote camp systems used by mining, construction, oil and gas, and manufacturing companies worldwide while expanding its consumer- and recreational-focused WeatherPort® product lines. Legislature backs Vietnam-UK education cooperation: top legislator

The National Assembly always supports the development of the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership, which was established in 2010, particularly in education, stated Chairman of the Nation Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue at the Vietnam-UK Education Collaboration Forum in London on June 30 (local time).

Addressing the forum, Hue stated education is a leading national policy in Vietnam, identified as one of the three breakthroughs to implement the nation’s socio-economic development strategy. Every year, Vietnam spends 20% of its national budget on education and training.

He said to create a strong transition in human resource development, Vietnam has determined that it is necessary to actively carry out international integration and promote foreign investment attraction in education for quality improvement.

With the country’s law made to facilitate businesses in the sector, Vietnam has to date attracted more than 500 foreign-funded educational projects worth 4 billion USD. Despite challenges and difficulties, room remains extensive for investing in Vietnam’s education, Hue affirmed.

He wished the bilateral educational cooperation will be concretised through impressive numbers, and recommended the two sides pay attention to step up exchanges of students and lecturers as well as collaboration between Vietnamese and UK universities.

He suggested the British Government continue to support English teaching and learning in Vietnam, share related learning resources, and increase scholarships for Vietnamese students. The Vietnamese side should work to increase the number of joint training programmes with ranked UK universities, he said.

The NA Chairman emphasised that Vietnam will create all possible conditions for prestigious British schools to soon open their branches in Vietnam. He asked the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training to work closely with the UK’s education body and universities association and the Vietnamese Embassy further foster the countries’ educational ties.

Deputy Speaker of the UK House of Commons Steve Smith stated education is among the UK’s top priorities in cooperation with Vietnam. There are 12,000 Vietnamese students studying in the UK and 40 UK-funded education projects in Vietnam.

He noted that the UK looks forward to supporting Vietnam’s efforts to strengthen English language training, develop the quality of English-language teachers, assess English proficiency, as well as digitise for a more inclusive education.

Smith also affirmed that the UK wishes to assist Vietnam’s development of key industries such as science, technology and innovation to help the local workforce enter the digital age.

In 2020, in a signed joint statement between the sides, the UK pledged to support the education reform strategy of the Vietnamese Government.

In April this year, the sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the legal framework for educational cooperation between the two countries with a focus on vocational training.

At the forum, Hue and his entourage witnessed the exchanges of MoUs between Vietnamese and UK universities./.

PM demands urgent actions in response to powerful storm Chaba

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 1 issued an official dispatch, demanding urgent actions be taken in response to approaching storm Chaba.

The dispatch noted that Chaba, the first tropical storm to hit the East Sea this year, is predicted to gain more strength and cause torrential rains in the northern region between July 2-7.

Coastal areas of the provinces from Quang Ninh to Ninh Binh are likely to have high waves combined with high tides, affecting the sea dyke system and causing flooding in low-lying areas.

To cope with this storm, the PM asked ministries, sectors, and related localities to continue calling on vessels at sea to move out of dangerous areas and take shelter while ensuring safety for people and vehicles involved in aquaculture, fishing, and other activities at sea.

Localities must have plans to evacuate people living in high-risk areas of flash floods and landslides, he said.

They are ordered to ensure the safety of reservoirs, especially small hydroelectric reservoirs, key irrigation reservoirs for flood discharge, and arrange forces for emergencies, he added.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting warned that heavy rain will hit the northeast region with rainfall from 40-90mm on July 2.

Rainfall is predicted to be 100-200mm in the northern region and up to 150-300mm in the northeast region on July 3 and 4.

By 7pm on July 2, the eye of the typhoon will be on the east coast of China’s Leizhou Peninsula, about 220km south-southeast of Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province. The strongest wind near the eye of the storm is forecast to reach up to 117km per hour.

The typhoon is moving northwest at 15-20km per hour, the centre said.

Top legislator arrives in Hanoi, concluding visits to Hungary, UK

Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue arrived at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on July 1 afternoon, successfully wrapping up his official visits to Hungary and the United Kingdom from June 26 – 30.

Hue held talks with top legislators, met with government leaders and ministers of Hungary and the UK and witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding on cooperation between ministries and localities.

He took the occasion to thank Hungarian and British leaders and people for donating COVID-19 vaccines and test kits to help Vietnam combat the pandemic.

The NA Chairman also met with heads of friendship parliamentary groups, friendship associations, corporations and universities in the two countries; attended high-level forums on trade, economy, investment and education; and visited Vietnamese communities there.

The visits aimed to deepen bilateral cooperation with the two European countries and showed the Party’s and State’s care for Vietnamese expatriates.

The signing of an agreement between the Vietnamese and Hungarian National Assemblies marked a new milestone in the two sides’ relations, lifting the bilateral parliamentary ties to a new height.

Hue’s visit to the UK, meanwhile, intended to step up the bilateral partnership and push for the effectively implementation of the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA). It was also expected to create new engine for the development of the two nations’ ties in politics, diplomacy, trade, economy, education and training, climate change response and others.

The visits also provided a chance for the top leader to voice Vietnam’s stance on several regional and global issues of mutual concern./.
