National Day celebrations in Malaysia, Czech Republic, Venezuela

The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia held a banquet on September 1 to mark the 77th anniversary of National Day (September 2).

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tran Viet Thai affirmed that with drastic efforts over the past years, Vietnam has been recognised by international friends as an open and vibrant economy, and a trustworthy friend and partner.

Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs Hamzah Zainuddin, for his part, expressed delight at achievements and development of all fields in tje Vietnam – Malaysia ties over the past nearly five decades.

At the event, the embassy put on show photos of Vietnam’s landscapes and screened short clips about Vietnamese cuisine.

Participants were also treated to traditional music performances and food.

Recently, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic also held a ceremony on the occasion.

Mid-autumn festival kicks off in Hanoi’s Old Quarter

A mid-autumn festival began in Hanoi’s Old Quarter on September 1, featuring myriad enticing activities.

The event features stalls selling products and toys for the traditional festival, cultural and art performances, and folk games.

A highlight of the festival includes a contest of arranging mid-autumn offering trays and a procession of lanterns.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem district, which organises the festival, Nguyen Quoc Hoan said it has become a traditional cultural charm of the district, particularly since the Old Quarter was recognised as a national cultural heritage.

The event lasts until September 10./.

Russian expert praises Vietnam’s contributions at international arena

Vietnam has recorded remarkable achievements in many fields in the contemporary world in the recent period, said head of the Eurasian Ideas Foundation (EIF) Grigory Trofimchuk of his recent visit to the Hanoi-Moscow multifunctional complex (Incentra) in the Russian capital city.

He praised Vietnam’s contributions to ensuring a stable security environment in the world.

Vietnam has twice held the role of a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, thereby showing its prestige in Southeast Asia in particular and in Asia in general, he said.

The expert went on to note that Vietnam provides an increasing number of goods for Russia and countries participating in the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Vietnam is an absolute reliable partner of Russia in Southeast Asia, Asia, and in the world, he affirmed.

Trofimchuk said Vietnam is central to the political and economic development of Southeast Asia, adding the geopolitical position is opening up a historic door for Vietnam to develop and further enhance its international position./.

Gifts to visitors to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum on National Day

The Hanoi municipal Department of Tourism and the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board presented gifts, including cookies and bottles of water, to visitors to the mausoleum on September 2.

The department said a total of 20,000 gifts were offered.

The activity was also meant to popularise the city’s tourism and attract more foreigners during year-end tourism season.

Earlier, during the April 30-May 1 holiday and birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh on May 19, they also granted 60,000 gifts to visitors to the mausoleum./.
