Organisations, associations contribute to Vietnam-France relationship

The Vietnamese Embassy in France organised a get-together for Vietnamese and French organisations and associations in Malakoff city on September 24.

 

Apart from the 20 participating organisations and associations, the event also brought together Vietnamese people working and studying in France, and foreign friends.

 

In his remarks, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang highlighted the role of the friendship and solidarity associations in the past struggle for national liberation as well as the present cause of national development.

 

He urged them to participate in major events in the bilateral relations in the time ahead, including the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-France diplomatic ties, and 10 years of the signing of their strategic partnership.

 

Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Nguyen Van Doanh affirmed that Vietnamese always bears in mind the support of French people.

 

He also lauded contributions of French organisations and associations, especially the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, to the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

 

On this occasion, Doanh and Thang presented certificates of merit to a number of individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the bilateral relationship.

 

Within the framework of the event, there were two seminars featuring Vietnam-France cooperation, along with film screening, traditional martial art performance and other cultural and art activities./.

Vietnam attends int’l conference of political parties in Mexico

A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) joined 200 delegates from political parties of 30 countries at an international conference themed “Political parties and a new society” in Mexico City from September 22-24.

 

Addressing the event, Tran Duc Thang, member of the CPV Central Committee and head of its Inspection Commission said that the conference is a chance for participants to update each other on the situation of political parties and countries, discuss issues of shared concern, and seek ways to coordinate actions for peace, national independence, democracy, cooperation, development and social progress in Latin America and around the world.

 

He affirmed that Vietnam hopes to expand relations with ruling parties and political parties throughout the world, adding that the CPV always attaches great importance to fostering ties with traditional friends in Latin America and is ready to share experience with other parties for common development.

 

Thang briefed participants on the socio-economic situation of Vietnam as well as the implementation of the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress.

 

He thanked Secretary General Alberto Anaya of the Labour Party (PT) of Mexico, left-wing and progressive parties in the Latin American and Caribbean regions as well as friend parties in the world for supporting and accompanying the CPV during the past struggles for national independence and the current national construction and defence and socialism building.

 

For his part, the PT leader expressed his special sentiments towards Vietnam, and showed delight at the growing ties between the two Parties and countries, especially in health care, education and culture. He affirmed his wish to further promote the friendship and mutual support between the two countries at international and regional forums.

 

Within the conference’s framework, the CPV delegation held talks with PT Secretary General Alberto Anaya and had meetings with their counterparts from major political parties in Mexico as well as political parties and organisations from many countries such as Cuba, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil.

 

The delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico and offered flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Mexico City./

Vietnam’s traditional costumes, music impress German friends

Vietnam is part of my heart,” stated President of the Germany-Vietnam Friendship Association Rolf Schulze, who served as German Ambassador to Vietnam during 2007-2011, while attending an event to introduce traditional costumes and musical instruments of Vietnam.

 

He said the event reminds him of sweet memories during his time in Vietnam.

 

Schulze affirmed that the Germany-Vietnam Friendship Association is working hard to not only connect the two nations but also contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries.

 

Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh hailed the efforts of the Thang Muoi (October) Art Club, the organiser of the event, in preserving and promoting the traditional culture of Vietnam among the Vietnamese community here.

 

Participants at the event were impressed by a special “Ao dai” (traditional long dress) show performed in the background of Vietnamese melodies from traditional musical instruments./.

Deputy PM meets Lao counterpart in New York

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh met with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77) in New York on September 23.

 

Minh congratulated Saleumxay Kommasith on his appointment as Deputy PM and FM of Laos and expressed his hope that the Lao official will continue to instruct the implementation of high-ranking delegation exchange activities and  bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and support ministries and localities in the realisation of high-level agreements between the two countries.

 

The two sides shared delight at the progress of the special solidarity between the two nations as well as the fruitful bilateral partnership over the years, and affirmed that they always put the Vietnam-Laos relations in top priority.

 

They showed a determination to effectively implement agreements reached by senior leaders of both countries and the outcomes of the 44th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee.

 

They will continue to coordinate closely in organising delegation exchanges at all levels and conducting remaining activities of the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year.

 

They will work to hasten the progress of major cooperation projects, while strengthen their coordination and mutual support at international, regional and sub-regional forums./.
