VNU-Hanoi, Huyndai Motor sign training pact

Hanoi: In a move to bolster engineering and technology education, Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi and Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) on March 19 signed a cooperation agreement on human resources development. Speaking at the signing ceremony, VNU-Hanoi Director Le Quan expressed his belief that the deal will significantly enhance the quality of engineering and technology education and research at the university. This, he said, will directly address the growing demand for skilled workers in the automotive industry and related sectors, ultimately contributing to the economic and scientific-technological development of both Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK). Head of business unit at Hyundai Vietnam Gi Baek Lee highlighted the existing relationship between the two sides. He pointed to a 2020 memorandum of understanding signed with VNU-Hanoi's University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) for volunteer education activities in the Hyundai-Jump School programme. Over the past four years, Hyu ndai Motor has assisted about 200 students from the VNU-Hanoi, primarily those from ULIS, he added. Under the new agreement, both sides will establish the VNU-HMC cooperation office located in Hoa Lac to facilitate joint activities, including internship opportunities for VNU-Hanoi's top talents at Hyundai Motor Group headquarters, lectures by esteemed international scholars, and collaborative research projects fostering mutual benefit. Voters back Party chief’s view on personnel affairs

Dak Lak: Officials, Party members and residents in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have expressed their support for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's view on personnel preparations for the 14th National Party Congress. WTO acknowledges Vietnam’s contributions to multilateral trade system

Geneva: Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on March 18 appreciated Vietnam's active contributions to the organisation, especially the outcomes of the WTO's 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) held in Abu Dhabi from February 26 to March 2. Receiving Ambassador Mai Phan Dung, head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations, the WTO and other international organisations in Geneva, who came to submit the Vietnamese State President's credentials, she suggested Vietnam continue to contribute to unfinished contents, including trying to bring Package 1 of the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies into effect before June and participating in promoting negotiations on Package 2, thus contributing to the UN Millennium Goals on sustainable development. Yen Bai officials, people show strong support for Party chief’s ideas on personnel affairs

Vietnam, Laos foster security cooperation

Vientiane: Security forces of Vietnam and Laos sought ways to strengthen their cooperation at their annual conference held in Vientiane on March 19. The 14th Vietnam - Laos Security Cooperation Conference was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang and his Lao counterpart Kongthong Phongvichit.
