Nestlé Vietnam model empowers Vietnamese women

Hanoi: A model was launched in Hanoi on March 27 aiming to diversify sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in some Vietnamese localities. As a collaboration between the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), Nestlé Vietnam, and Maggi food brand, the model will be implemented in eight out of the 20 provinces under the 'Nestlé accompanies women' programme since 2024. Jointly launched by the VWU and Nestlé Vietnam in December 2020, the programme has helped thousands of women, especially in rural areas, improve their knowledge and skills, gradually keep pace with the digital transformation process and create sustainable livelihoods. The model is expected to benefit 16,000 women this year with total funding of more than 1 billion VND (40,340 USD). Truong Thi Thu Thuy, head of the VWU's Family and Social Affairs Department, said the union and Nestlé Vietnam have implemented various cooperation programmes, targeting tens of thousands of women, over the past time. Nam Dinh province resolved to fight IUU fishing

Nam Dinh: The northern coastal province of Nam Dinh is employing multiple solutions to fight illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, joining efforts to seek the removal of the European Commission (EC)'s "yellow card' warning against Vietnamese seafood. Local competent forces have stepped up the inspection and settlement of the violations of fishing regulations, and sent to relevant agencies a list of the vessels that commit violations in and outside the province. Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Huu said those that have yet to meet regulations are not permitted to set sail, and unregistered fishing boats will be strictly handled. The department granted licenses to 96.89% of the total vessels in the locality. As of mid-March, up to 97.38% of vessels measuring at least 15 metres long had been equipped with monitoring devices. YouTubers, TikTokers encouraged to attend 10th National External Information Service Awards

Hanoi: The 10th National External Information Service Awards were launched in Hanoi on March 28, welcoming the participation of social media influencers. At the launch ceremony, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Television (VTV) Do Duc Hoang said that many Youtubers, Tiktokers and content creators in Vietnam have shared videos featuring the life and people in the country, drawing the attention of many international followers. The organisers of this year's event, namely the Steering Committee for External Information Service, the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education and the VTV, hopes the influencers will study and engage in the event, he added. The awards aim at honouring standout authors, works and publications in the field of external information service and help popularise the country's development achievements in various areas. According to the organisers, the awards are open to works in both Vietnamese and foreign languages in the categories of video clip, initiatives and p roducts with external information values, photo, television broadcast, radio broadcast, book, print newspaper, electronic newspaper, and website in foreign languages. Hanoi: The Government has issued a decree regulating the implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction. The decree outlines various aspects of the convention implementation in Vietnam, including general provisions, production of DOC and DOC-PSF chemicals, regulations on inspection and supervision, and State management of chemicals, among others. It is applied to organisations and individuals taking part in or involving in activities implementing the convention. The Ministry of Industry and Trade's Vietnam Chemicals Agency is designated as the national authority responsible for overseeing the implementation of the convention. The agency will serve as a focal point of contact between Vietnam, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), and other member states, as outlined in the convention./.
