Ho chi minh city: Over 5,000 participants gathered at Le Duan Street in April 30 Park on June 28, 2026, for a community walk celebrating the 50th anniversary of the city’s renaming in honor of President Ho Chi Minh. The event, themed ‘Heritage Journey – Stepping into the Future’, was part of the celebrations commemorating the official naming of the city from Sai Gon – Gia Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City on July 2, 1976.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the walk attracted both delegates and local residents, emphasizing the themes of health training and civic pride. Participants expressed their aspirations for developing a civilized, modern, and compassionate city through this event.
