Chachoengsao, A young man driving a sedan fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the back of a trailer truck, seriously injuring himself. Then the police found methamphetamine and ice in his shoulder bag.
The accident occurred on Theparat Road (Bangna-Trat) Km.49, parallel lane, inbound to Bangkok, Village 19, Bangpakong Subdistrict, Bangpakong District, Chachoengsao Province at 04.30 this morning (July 20, 2014). The vehicle involved in the accident was a white sedan that crashed into the back of a 22-wheel trailer truck before losing control and climbing onto the sidewalk on the side of the road. The front end was badly damaged. The driver, Mr. Panya, 34 years old, was severely injured by glass cuts on his body and was unconscious at the steering wheel. The police checked his shoulder bag for documents but found a blunderbuss and some crystal methamphetamine pills, which were seized as evidence. They will investigate after Mr. Panya’s condition improves. ?

aid that he stopped to sleep at 10 pm, but did not notice that the parking spot was on the left lane, not the shoulder, and that it was a curve because it was his first time on this route. When he woke up at 4:30 am and was getting ready to drive, it was raining. Suddenly, he heard a loud noise coming from the back of the truck. He quickly got out to see that a sedan had hit him from behind. He then called the police and rescue workers.
