Khon Kaen, Police are preparing to press three serious charges against a driver of a popular ride-hailing app who sexually harassed a 20-year-old woman who requested a ride-hailing service to her residence in Khon Kaen Province.
Progress in the case of a 20-year-old female victim who brought evidence and a video clip to file a complaint at Khon Kaen City Police Station on July 29 to prosecute a GrabCar driver who sexually harassed her while she was calling for a service from a restaurant at around 4:30 a.m. to take her to her accommodation. The GrabCar driver drove a white Honda City sedan with a Roi Et license plate to pick up the victim and take her to her accommodation. He brought the Grab application profile of the driver as evidence to file a complaint.
The latest is that Pol. Col. Yotsawat Kaewsibthanit, Superintendent of Khon Kaen City Police Station, revealed that officers now know the driver of the vehicle and have contacted the GrabCar driver to acknowledge the three charges: 1. Committing indece
nt acts with a person over 15 years of age, 2. Threatening or suggesting sexual conduct, and 3. Drinking alcohol while driving. If he fails to appear, a summons will be issued. If the summons is issued and the driver still does not appear before the police, an arrest warrant will be requested from the court to bring him in for prosecution immediately. This is after the victim submitted evidence to the investigation officer at Khon Kaen City Police Station on the evening of July 29. The suspect’s behavior and words were considered sexual harassment, causing the victim to fear that her life, body, property, rights, or freedom would be harmed. Today, the investigation officer will question the victim in more detail to gather evidence.
