Agriculture, Environment Remain Key Pillars of National Economy: PM

Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 31 attended a conference reviewing the performance of the agriculture and environment sector in 2025 and the 2021-2025 period, and outlining tasks for 2026. A report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE) showed that despite global economic volatility, intensifying climate change and natural disasters, the sector completed or exceeded all nine targets assigned by the Government.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of agriculture and environment as foundational elements of the national economy. The conference highlighted achievements made over the past five years, underscoring the resilience and adaptability of the sector in overcoming various challenges. The MAE report detailed how strategic initiatives and policies enabled the sector to meet its goals, contributing significantly to the country's economic stability.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders in the agriculture and environment sectors and encouraged continued innovation and commitment to sustainable practices. The conference also served as a platform to discuss future strategies aimed at enhancing the sector's contribution to the national economy, with a focus on sustainability and resilience in the face of ongoing climate challenges.
