Cu lao gieng: Farmers in Cu Lao Gieng commune, An Giang province are experiencing a prosperous mango harvest season as prices have doubled compared to the previous year, providing a substantial income boost for the thousands of mango farmers on the “pearl island” in the midst of the Tien River. Green-skinned mangoes are being sold directly from the garden to traders at 27,000 VND (1.03 USD) per kg, while small-seeded mangoes are fetching 19,000 VND (0.72 USD) per kg, both marking a significant increase from last year’s prices.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the yellow-skinned elephant mangoes have set new price records this year, reaching up to 55,000 VND (2.09 USD) per kg, despite a lower output. This marks the highest price ever recorded for yellow-skinned elephant mangoes purchased directly from the garden in the commune. This surge in prices is bringing renewed optimism and economic uplift to the local farming community.
