Bau Ca Cai Mangrove Forest Serves as Vital ‘Green Lung’ for Quang Ngai

Quang ngai: The Bau Ca Cai mangrove forest, located in Thuan Phuc village, Van Tuong commune, approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Quang Ngai province's center, spans more than 100 hectares. It plays a crucial role as a 'green lung' for the coastal region.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the brackish lagoon underwent restoration and expansion from 2014 to 2016. This development included the planting of millions of white lumnitzera trees, as part of a project aimed at enhancing climate resilience for vulnerable coastal communities in Vietnam. This initiative was implemented by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), in collaboration with the Vietnamese Government and Quang Ngai province.

Today, the mangrove forest attracts visitors with guided boat tours through the white lumnitzera forest. The area also offers opportunities to observe birds and aquatic life, allowing visitors to experience the natural environment in its unspoilt state.
