Ca mau: The southernmost province of Ca Mau is intensifying its efforts to address illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing while also supporting local fishermen in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of their operations. These initiatives are gaining strong support from fishermen and those involved in fisheries activities, who are increasingly adhering to legal regulations and pledging to avoid violations in foreign waters.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the province is home to 1,974 fishing vessels measuring 15 meters or more, all of which are required to comply with mandatory journey monitoring and catch traceability requirements. These measures are part of a broader strategy to ensure that fishing practices are both sustainable and compliant with international standards, aimed at lifting the European Commission’s ‘yellow card’ warning.
