Cashless Payment Festival Launched in HCM City

Hanoi: The ‘Ting Ting Day’ Festival commenced on June 14 on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in District 1, marking a significant initiative under the 2025 HCM City Cashless Day programme. This festival aims to encourage cashless transactions and foster the growth of the digital economy. The event is a collaborative effort involving the State Bank of Vietnam, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade, and the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam.

According to Vietnam News Agency, as of 2024, Vietnam had reported more than 204.5 million bank accounts owned by individual customers and 154.1 million bank cards in use. Nearly 87% of the adult population in Vietnam holds a bank account, highlighting the nationwide shift towards digital financial solutions. The festival is part of a broader effort to further entrench cashless payments in everyday transactions, aligning with global trends towards digitalization in financial systems.
