“Chadchart” orders urgent relief for the fire incident in Yaowarat area

Bangkok, " Governor Chadchart" ordered to speed up compensation for those affected by the fire in the Trok Pho community, Yaowarat area. At 00.30 hrs., Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, along with Mr. Suriyachai Rawiwan, Director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office of Bangkok and executives of the Samphanthawong District Office, went to the area to survey the damage and facilitation of the fire incident in the Trok Pho Community, Yaowarat Road, Samphanthawong District, Bangkok. Mr. Chadchart revealed that initially, the Samphanthawong District Office set up a registration point for those affected by the fire. More than 200 affected people have already registered to receive compensation. In addition, there are many migrant workers who rent houses in the Trok Pho community who have also been affected. Mr. Chadchart also revealed that most of the houses in the Trok Pho community are made of wood, making them go od fuel. In addition, two hotels were burned, causing all customers to check out and wait to collect their belongings. As for the initial damage, it is not yet possible to count the number of houses burned down. A detailed survey will be needed. However, according to residents, there are 65 houses in the Trok Pho community that were only partially damaged by the fire. In addition, Bangkok has set up temporary shelters for disaster victims at Wat Traimit Witthayaram Worawihan, Wat Sampanthawong, Wat Chai Chana Songkhram or Wat Tuek, Phichai Yat Building, Sampanthawong District Office. At 01:00 a.m., disaster relief officials reported that the fire had been extinguished. The next step is forensic officers to investigate the cause of the fire and reopen Yaowarat Road to normal traffic.
