Quang tri: Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has called for the increased use of scientific and technological innovations to improve the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains. This call was made during a ceremony at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel special national relic site, marking the launch of a nationwide 500-day campaign focused on this mission.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the campaign's objectives include the recovery of approximately 7,000 sets of remains, the completion of DNA sampling for unidentified graves across the country, and DNA analysis on around 18,000 samples. Additionally, the initiative plans to establish a national gene database for martyrs and their relatives and to intensify mine clearance operations in key areas. The campaign is set to run from March 15, 2026, to July 27, 2027, aligning with the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day.
